Date:Tuesday August 21 T.K. is fourteen Ala is ten
The principle had been rattling and droning on about the importance of making this year a great one in all fields: football, soccer, and academics. There were those select few who were listening, but they were one in twenty. Mostly the students of East Middle School were joking and catching up with one another.
From their seat on the top center a group of tweens could see everyone around them. One student sat there unamused and nearly asleep, his black hair was shaggy and complete with a rat tail, a far call from the neatness the school board desired. Beneath his closed lids and long eyelashes lurked a pair of dark hazel eyes, the color of burnt honey and brown sugar. A strong hand was where the lazy head rested, unable to hold itself up.
Slowly the sounds of the gymnasium oozed together like the sounds of a bustling grocery store. Suddenly one sound stood out, the movement of someone nearby and a bubbly sort of laughter. What felt like out of the
