Once upon a time
There was a little girl
So cute, So stout
She was playing outside by the river
When she spotted something with doubt
It was covered in mud
Torn slightly at the limbs-the tragedy!
It bore the saddest smile
As a hole was clear in its pulmonary cavity
The little girl poked her finger into the hole
She coulda sworn it cringed
There was nothing in there
And in reaction
Tears ran down those brown eyes
That raven lashes fringed
The little girl took him home
Muddy, torn, and sad
Upon walking in
The little girl could see
That her mother was mad
"Oh my, that belongs in the trash
Give it to me, little dove"
"No mother! This is precious
It deserves warmth and love"
She scampered up the stairs
And into her room
There she began to mend the bear
Like a mother with her baby still in the whomb
Sewing limbs shut
Patching holes tight
When she got to his chest
Something just didn't seem right
She searched and searched
For something she could use to fill his void
Nothing could be found
And the girl quickly grew annoyed
Just when all hope was lost, she gasped
And looked at her wrist
The most beautiful charm bracelet hung losely
Something she had asked Santa for on her list
So bright and prestine hung a tiny gold heart
The initials D.V engraved
Incase it ever got lost
One quick yank broke the heart of gold off
A soft whisper, a quick pray
She stuck the heart into the hole
And became just another cliche
Stitch marks here
And there
And everywhere
The girl pulled him into bed that night
Hugged him tight
& sang rather slow; very andante
"I'm glad I found you," she yawned
"My sweet little "
