Her day started mainly the same each time.
She would rise early, make breakfast, and dine
Until she knew he was nearby, waiting for
Her to begin her day outside so he could soar
Inter her beautiful garder of flowers.
Yet, rain kept him at bay. Thos ugly showers
Of unstoppable rain made him come inside
Before her breakfast was done. Once confided
In her that he loved the rain, but hated being
Caught in it. He made her smile and laugh, seeing
As she absolutely needed it to live,
Needed the communication. He would give
Her the things she needed--wanted--if she just asked.
It seemed as if he loved her and would never cast
This opportunity to be with her.
He knew, in his heart, she was the one, truly sure
That she was the one he wanted for the rest
Of his life. He wanted her to have his crest
So that he could call her his own and his mate.
He believed her to be within his future as fate
Might have it. Hitomi would look up at him
And smile. She knew as well this wasn't whim.
One quiet, raining morning, she looked up and asked,
....."Why do you come so much? Is this a mask
For something else you want from this humble human?
Do you think I'll fall for you as a woman?
I consider you my friend, I do, but why
Do you court me? I am but a girl, shy
And nervous and easily embarrassed."
Her words were stuttered and fully half assed,
Yet he was still able to understand her.
....."Hitomi, you need not worry. I am sure
About what I am doing. You are the one
That I wish to protect. I believe I have won
Your trust to where I can be blunt with you.
I love you more than you know. Do you love me too?"
She was struck speechless, not knowing what to say.
Was she to say yes and take the leap? Was it okay
To lay trust in a demon that she barely knew?
By the end of July, would she have a crew
To care for that he might not want because he
Wasn't the type to settle down? Would she see
That he truly would settle down for her?
...."Kiro, I don't know what to say. I'm not sure
As what to say. How can I know what you say is true?
Do you think that I'm so blind that I don't have a clue
As to what you've been trying to do, Kiro?
You've been trying to get me to mate with you."
....."You think so low of me to believe I don't love
You and would do anything to be with my dove
Of the morning? I love her sweet song
When she sings a tune. I feel as if I belong
With you and only you. I am happy to see
You happy. I will hold this promise as a creed
And I promise myself to you for the rest
Of our lives. Please believe that this comes from my chest
As true as when I say I love you and need you.
I don't want to be turned away like an old tool.
If I must, Hitomi, I will prove this love for
You. If I must, I will settle the score
And battle a thousand demons just for you,
Just to prove that what I say is so very true.
I really do crave your touch, Hitomi."
She was more of a girl that said show me
Rather than believe in possibly false words.
She stood up, her dress sliding down, the cord
Coming loos. Hitomi tightened it and moved away.
....."I'm still unable to believe what you say
Until you show me that you truly are
Serious. I won't think it true till I hear far
From here that you have proven yourself to me.
Until that day, just go and leave me be."
Kiro, struck with awe, said nothing as he left to
Prove this love he had for her. He would do
Anything, even walk to the ends of the earth.
He traveled to the beach to listen to the surf,
That which calmed him. She sat alone, sad and lonely.
Hitomi hoped and prayed for him to return safely.
