I opened the door to my house as Oz followed in still trying to ask why I was screaming his name. “Alice!” Oz called as I walked in the hall passing the living room, but once Oz grabbed my arm the phone rang. I prayed a thank you to god and ran for the phone, picking it up quickly “Hello?”
“Alice?” Emily replied.
“Hey Em. What’s up?”
“Alice! Is Oz with you?”
“Yes”
After a small silence Emily spoke “Alice…please promise me you’ll be careful”. I heard awarness and something else in Emily’s voice but decided against asking. ‘Ok” I replued in a bored tone leadingOz away.
“Bye Alice”
“Bye” I hung up first scarred as to what Emily meant To be careful.
Oz placed a hand on my shoulder and pulled me into a hug. “What happened in the woods that you wont tell me?” he asked. My mind screamed for me to tell him everything but my conscious yelled ‘No’ back. I suddenly became aware of my pendant possibly poking into his chest. He pulled away and looked into my eyes practically hypnotizing me with his black and white eyes. Then Oz did the thing I hoped he’d never do again. He kissed me. Oz pressed slowly. “See ya Monday. Promise that you’ll stop hiding things”. no response left my lips as they just stayed sealed while I watched Oz leave.
My weekend flew by with my thoughts reviewing Friday more times then I could count but soon enough Monday came.
I woke up Monday morning before my first alarm went off. Got to school and in the class before anyone else. “My your early” me H said with a non-interested tone. My hair was down today while I wore a V-neck shirt with my favorite undershirt. my mother “happened” to buy a inch higher-then-the-knee skirt while my jeans hadn’t been washed yet.
“Niiiice skirt. I thought you didn’t wear ‘em” Oz applied as he sat in his seat. My thoughts brought back up Friday and my head acked from trying to think of Other me and Oz all at the same time. “Oz cant you see she doesn’t want to be bothered. Sheesh.” Emily chimed, walking in the room. She sat in the seat in front of me as more kids got into the classroom. “Em that’s not your se-” but before Oz could continue she interrupted him “I know Its ok. We’ve got a new student” she said as she gave me the thumbs up. Oz grunted behind me like he was annoyed. But why at Emily.
A girl with long blonde hair reaching to her waist in curls, with pearl colored skin along with coal black eyes. ‘Everyone this is Arianna Martinez. She’s new so be nice and help her. Oh an Alice, Your going to show her around” showing Arianna her new seat where Emily use to sit, ms. H said giving me the have-to look. I looked at the new girl as she smiled sweetly at me. “Hi Alice. I’m hoping we can become great friends” she added. My mind echoed her words and voice but her voice seemed to betray her smile ‘Like she’s evil….nooooo…she cant be!….she’s to sweet and fragile’ I thought replying to Arianna ‘Yea. Same here”.
Once ms Hurley began her lesson my eyes couldn’t help but notice Emily’s shoulders tensing “Em you ok?” I whispered to her. Her shoulders dropped and she turned her eyes to me and fear showed naked in her eyes “Im fine”. She turned back to the teacher and we both started to take notes, but again my eyes noticed her shoulders tense up once more.
