Maru Himigoto was brought up into the world by a mother alone, her real father had died. Maru was a full water sprite. She had always wondered why when her father was human. But it turns out he wasn't. Maru also had a twin sister, when her mothers lifeless child came out of her body, Mikane Maru's mother didn't know that, Maru and Mizuki, had combined souls, so Mizuki was inside Maru. They lived happily for the first eight years of their life until Mizuki lost her temper and brutally murdered their house cat Nekiko. Her human step father lost all patience with Maru and forced Mikane to kick her out. Mikane couldn't do anything, a pregnant woman out on the streets with an eight year old child. How would she explain that they were kicked out because they were demons? Maru took a leadership role. She said, "Mom, I'll be fine." And she left in the middle of the night.
Years later Maru (age 13) had befriended a bird. She was called a witch by the towns people. Some teenage boys decided to kill her bird, Mizuki and Maru went balistic, destroying the town that she had moved to. But an elementalist named peter, came to her and calmed her spirit, he would be Maru's new father. One hundred years would pass, and Maru would continue to look like she was around 16 or 17, peter then enrolled her in Jakomaya University, a school for all races.
