Lenalee lead the girl to her brothers office. Novella was a little scared but didn't show it. It was hot and an even hotter breeze drifted through the Order. She felt her skirt come a little. She was already sweating. Lenalee walked into the already open door. Mostly everyone was there. Allen. Kanda, and Lavi. Novella noted the red headed one. Kanda with a scowl on his face as usual saw that this new girl was scared but wasn't about to show it.
Novella was confused on what to do now. "Hello..Novella." Said a sweet and soothing voice. Seemed to come from a behind a boulder sized pile of papers. "Hi..." She said still in the doorway. Lenalee toke her hand and lead her to her brothers desk. A man with dark purple hair, kind of long, and wore a white hat and coat. He moved the pile to one side. "Sit down please." He said kindly. Novella was hesitant but did so anyway.
"Now you've got to be wondering why you're here." Started the man. Novella scowled. "Well I was dragged here so yes I am a little curious." She said.
The man only smiled. He explained everything to her. Novella wasn't pleased. Sounded like she had been forcefully recruited for some war.
Lavi watched the girl. She looked very pretty he'd admit that. Her eyes seemed to be stuck in his mind. The look in them...her hair, her face, and even her body all stuck in his mind. He couldn't keep his eyes off her. Something about her sucked him in. Lavi had never cared for someone they way he started to care for her. He almost hated the feeling...feared it even.
Novella pushed her hair behind her. "Fine then." She said coldly. She did feel slightly less afraid. But she had no idea why she agreed. It wasn't as if she liked the place. Maybe the supervisor had made her feel a little better...he did but she was sure that wasn't it. And that boy...Lavi seemed stuck in her mind. His cold manner...and what he said to her. She thought back to the place she had been before she got dragged here. What he had said.
(Flashback)
Novella: Let me go.
Lavi: I can't. Even if I could I wouldn't...
Novella: Oh? And why is that?
Lavi: Because...heh....never mind.
Those words still rang in her ears even now. Why wouldn't he let her go? Possibly because he was afraid of her running away but she had already said she'd go...so why wouldn't he?
"Well if you'd like some food Novella or if you want to go get some sleep you're more than welcome to both. But you'll start basic training in the morning." Said the supervisor kindly. Novella's train of thought was interrupted and she was back to reality. "I'm not hungry so if I could sleep I'll be okay." She said a little nicer.
Lavi noted that she sounded nicer. Kind even. Like her true self was showing through...Lavi felt himself blush a little. He scolded himself and leaned on the wall with an uncaring look on his face. "What's with you stupid rabbit?" Asked a rough voice. Lavi opened his one eye. It was Kanda with his arms crossed. Lavi closed his one eye again and a small smile crossed his lips. "Nothing..Yu-Chan." Said Lavi uncaringly. Kanda grunted. "I saw you make eyes at that girl. It's making me sick so confess soon." He said walking away.
Lavi stood there shocked. He never thought Kanda would notice him looking at the girl or guess how he actually felt.
Novella a few feet away and lost in thought didn't hear Kanda. She was startled when someone's hand appeared on her shoulder. She looked up and saw...lavi.
"What?" She asked coldly. She hadn't forgot how he had treated her. "Koumi...is there a room ready for her?" Asked Lavi.
Koumi shoke his head. "I'm so sorry but there isn't. And won't be for a week. I'm sorry Novella. You'll have to share with someone." Said Koumi sadly. He had a look of pity on his face. "Who then?" She asked.
"Kanda won't like it....Allen is about to go on a misson...Lenalee already shares with Mirianda....Lavi would you mind taking her in?" Asked Koumi sipping his coffee.
Novella froze. Lavi?! He had already showed he hated her. No telling what he'd do to her if she did or said something wrong. Koumi noticed her sudden change of manner. "It's alright Lavi won't hurt you." He said soothingly. He shot lavi a look that said "She should hear it from you she's scared."
Lavi bent down and gave the girl a light squeeze. "I won't hurt you." He said.
Novella wasn't fully convinced but hearing it from him seemed to set her mind at ease a little. She said nothing. Koumi and lavi saw the relief on her face.
"Well go to bed if you're tired then." Said Lavi. "I'll take you to my room so you can sleep." He said walking away. Novella quickly got up and followed.
