She collapsed back into shadows
That had enveloped her before.
And it pains him because he knows
That she is shedding tears once more.
He'd do anything to heal her,
The pain she endures kills him everyday.
He'd do anything just to be near
And make the sadness go away.
While she cries out her eyes,
He dreams of saving enough money
To one day give her a great surprise,
A little "i'm here, honey."
As he continues to scheme,
She pines over something she can't have
And flees from her once happy dream,
Slowly driving herself mad.
But then he speaks to her
And everything seems alright.
Feelings of happiness begin to stir,
Making her eyes light up bright.
He smiles to himself lovingly,
Because his best friend is smiling.
And he doesn't know that she can see
The love buried in his eyes, hiding.
