as the gargoyle spread his wing over his mistress, she knelt down. her trusty sword had served her well. it was time to let go. blood flowed down her arm from the wound she had received from the other gargoyles she had been fighting. rain streamed down her face. she could not tell if any of it was tears, everything had gone cold. her hand moved to her chest. "it...it hurts.....my......... broken heart......" she murmured. the gargoyle, her faithful servant, nudged her arm. it was limp. her hand released the sword, and she fell on to the ground. the gargoyle sat with her for some time, then he left. her flew onto the highest building, and let out an blood-curdling cry. he roared and roared, but it could not save his master. in despair, he used most of his life's energy to kill all of his siblings that had killed his master. as they slowly died, he couldn't do it. so, with the very last remnant, he turned them all to stone. all alive, but asleep.... to wait for the return of the gargoyle master...
