Alright so here's a bunch of short stories about kids that loose something of their childhood. If it's a book, a bear, or a home, It hurts, bad.
The first one is based off of little ol' me. And the love that I lost. This is only a portion of what I went through with my bear.
I don't remember when I started loving this bear. I don't remember why either. But it's my favorite, ever. There was nothing special about it, although it might win most tares in one bear, but nothing really special. But it's the greatest stuffed animal ever.
The small light brown bear sat in the Safeway parking lot. It lay a smile forever on it's soft face.Constantly smiling even in this time of grief.
You'd think after 12 years in her possession she would get over the thing and put it on a shelf with all of her childhood possessions. She wouldn't stand for that. But when she finally noticed that the bear was gone, it was really gone.
After 2 weeks she noticed that the precious relic was missing. She thought it must have found the underside of her bed, but when she looked, it wasn't there.
Instantly she told her parents. They looked everywhere. They tore apart her house, upturning every bed, emptying every dresser.Once the entire house was cleaned three times over, they moved to her friends.Nothing.The next, nothing. Nobody had seen her little brown bear.
She cried, yes. She wept for the lost bear The one that kept her company so many many years. At the very mention of the brown animal she would feel salty tears burn her face.
After another year with the bear's absence, she was aware if those good time she had. And if she still had it then the good times she would have. But now she wasn't so sad about her bear missing. It was probably still wearing the black sweater she put on it when Halloween was coming this way.
She missed the bear beyond compare of anything else.It was like loosing a limb. She just wanted to see it again. The light brown matted fur that used to always stick to her plastic eyes. One with a bite mark from when the dog ate it. The way it's face tilted to the side because of the many years of hugging.
She knew she would never hug the bear again.Sometimes she wished that she did put the bear on a shelf, just so she could take it back down.Just so she could see it again.
So here I ask, "Have you seen my childhood?" A quote from my dear mother. My bear, my childhood's gone missing, if she's seen please please return her. Even as I write this I gasp and sob. These are not the last tears I shall shed for my missing childhood.
Okay now this one is fiction....yeah.
I don't understand why we needed to move. All my friends lived in Portland. All my secret hideouts, all those corner shops were there.Everything I knew was there. I'd only been to San Fransisco once before too.
The black-haired boy sat pouting in the passenger's seat in his mother's Mazda6.
"Don't make that face, it won't be so bad. You'll have your own room," She said looking at her son.
"I'd rather share a room with Annie then move...."He said.
His mother sighed and turned back to the road. The golden gate was coming into view in the distance. The black-haired boy thought of his friends and looked at the photo they took only a month before the move. Before he knew he would have to say goodbye.
"I'll call you it's not like you're dieing or anything," His best friend said slapping him on the back.
"I know, I know!"
The black-haired boy glared at the photo. His friends wouldn't call, they wouldn't write, e-mail. They would forget him. They would replace him, he knew it.
