The Prologue
Wind ripping through my hair. Trees were blurring past me. The ground thudded against my feet as I ran. I was not running away but the complete opposite. I was running towards something. But what was I running towards?
Then suddenly I stopped. My heart was pounding in my throat as I looked around me. I was in a meadow and I presumed that I was alone. That was the case until I looked ahead. There stood a man with glowing golden eyes. He stood in the shadows but a thin line of light hit his face. In the light shone his bright red lips. And behind those lips of his were sharp fangs.
He stepped toward me and I toward him. I couldn't breath as his arms opened to embrace me. The moonlight danced on his face as we gradually moved closer. he smiled as he finally wrapped his arms around me. I melted into his embrace and I smelled his seductive scent.
There was one word on my lips. Only one word. The word was sweet, kind, protective, seductive, and mysterious all at the same time. The word was a name. But not any name. No, not any name.
The name belonged to him. To the one who held me. The one who had stolen my heart. The one who was my life. And the one who could take it away.
I closed my eyes as his name danced on my tongue and in my mind. I put my head against his shoulder as I whispered his name.
"Castro."
He lifted my face and stared into my eyes. He moved his head close to mine. I felt his lips touch mine. He was kissing me and my heart was pounding once more.
