Aida was the daughter of King Amonosaro of Ethiopia. She was as lovely as a starry evening and as gentle as the rain in spring. During a battle with the Egyptains, Aida was taken prisoner. The Egyptians did not realize Aida was a princess. They forced her to serve as a slave to Amneris, the daughter of the Egyptain king.
Although a slave, Aida's beauty and grace were so great that Radames, a captain in the Egyptainarmy, fell in love with her. Even though he was an Egyptain and the enemy of her people, Aida loved Radames. The two were forced to keep their love a secret, especially from Amneris. The Egyptain princess was also in love with the handsome captain.
In a later battle, King Amonosaro is captured and brought to Egypt. aida spots her father in a crowd of prisoners, but she hold her tongue and does not betray him, as the king, to the Egyptains.
Radames decides to flee Egypt and go to Ethiopia with Aida and Amonosaro. As the three try to escape, Amonosaro is killed and Radames is arrested, but Aida escapes. For his treason against Egypt, Radames is sentenced to be buried alive. As the guards seal the tomb. Radames tries to roll back the rock that seals the tomb. The stubborn stone will not yaild. Aida begs Radames to stop. Her wish has just now come true. he and Radames are toghter-forever. heart
