Can you imagine this blurring reality? Your eyes closed as you stand. You feel my hot breath on the back of your neck as my hands find their way around your waist. “Do you trust me”, I whisper the words. Your reply, a simple “I do”. I turn you around and take your hand. Your eyes open now, questioning my own. Without answer, I lead you, far away from the hum of the city, away from the noise and the people. I lead you to the edge of a forest and face you once more. I hold both your hands and ask “do you love me”. You reply with but just one word: “yes”. I kiss you for a brief moment, too short a moment, as I break away and say simply “then follow”. I turn to the forest and run. As I run through the trees I hear your footfalls behind mine keeping pace. We run deeper into the trees, neither of us tiring or slowing, we are faster than the wind. I slow in the heart of the woods and you come to my side. I turn and kiss you now longer than before. Your arms cling to my neck, and mine around your waist. Your eyes closed again living in this perfect moment, I lower you to the ground and lay beside you. One hand remains on your waist but the other now strokes your hair. There is no sound but the silence of the forest and our breathing. The clean smell of the trees and leaves and the warmth of our bodies so close are soothing. I close my eyes and rest my head against you. You wouldn’t remember much of this part now, for as I breathed the words “I love you” and kissed your cheek, I let you take me, and joined you in sleep.
