Ok i just finished playing this game called mirror's edge and i thought i would review it. Lets start with the story, in the game you play as a 26-year old asian chick named faith, a member of a group with gifted abilities who call themselves *runners*( basically postmen with a huge adrenaline rush) they can jump rooftops, run on walls, balance on long beams, etc., etc. and they all do this while running really fast, they use their abilities to transfer information for clients since the city they live in has become corrupt and info is monitored everywhere. But strangely this information they carry never comes into the game as the story revolves around faith's sister kate. Whom faith finds at a building standing next to a dead man with a smoking gun in her hand, at least thats how the cops see it, kate explains that she came earlier that morning to see this man and she suddenly blacked out and when she woke up the guy was dead, ( by the way kate is a cop and hasnt had time to radio in the murder by the time faith shows up. so faith's sister gets taken in by the police and is put on trial for murder, she is found guilty. So the whole game is about finding who framed your sister and proving her innocence. now for the gameplay ( if your still reading this, thank you so much XD ) Turns out there is a button ( left bumper ) for all the up and jump moves and a button ( left trigger ) for all the duck and slide moves. so after a while you get pretty used to the game. the game overall is pretty much assassin's creed in first person. in the game your taught not to fight but if you do fight then isolate the enemy one at a time. the puzzles are challenging to a point where you will have to do alot of trial and error, ALOT. the levels that take place in buildings also tend to repeat themselves in a sense that *iv been in this room before but last time the boxes were green* sort of thing.the use of primary colors is a nice touch since you must know where your going before you go there, mainly since you have runners vision where everything thats red is something you can use to get from point A to point B, and while the running is supposed to be free form, you often feel constricted on where you can go since theres often only one way to solve a puzzle. the combat also needs work since often there are times when punches and kicks dont register and the cops beat you down. at the end of levels you find yourself relieved the level is over rather than satisfied. Overall i give this game an 8 out of 10, this is a great game and i do hope they make a sequal to fix some of their mistakes, while i do totally recomend this game, i will admit that this game will be loved by some but hated by others, definitely give this game a try.
