So today we had a little store visit from our wonderful district manager, Matt. Well, Matt came in and did his usual tirades about how everything in the store was absolutely wrong and needed to be changed immediately. Oddly enough though, everything I had done in the store was precisely how it was supposed to be and he liked it. He approved of all of the changes I made to the store and the way I had the areas set-up.
While at the store, Matt made sure to watch me like a hawk (Yes, I know it's a pun and be damned if I care) to make sure I was doing everything PRECISELY how he expected me to do it. As soon as a customer came in, I made the most of the situation and proceeded to perfectly sell everything I could to him, including our focus items of Pre-Played games and an Edge Discount Card. Matt had nothing to say but a "Good Job," follwed immediately by an approving nod of the head.
If you knew anything about this man, you would know that such instance are less than few and far between. They're damn near a once in a lifetime spectacle.
Anywho, I proceed to rock the house with a few more customers to even further impress Matt. The best part came when I brought up the subject of our recently departed company president who resigned after the completed merger with Gamestop. I just dropped it into conversation when speaking to Mary that I found out what happened to him and she was flabberghasted because she had No idea about what his new dealings were. Then Matt came back out onto the sales floor and I informed him of my knowledge of Griffiths now being the sixth seat on the THQ board of directors.
Guess what?
Matt had no clue either and thus, I thoroughly impressed him with the fact that I knew more about the company and the gaming world than he did. He immediately went into the backroom and procceeded to make numerous phonecalls to his peers and higher ups to inform them since none of them knew the information either. I absolutely rocked their EB socks. Plus, I made Matt love me a little more by shooting the breeze with him about PC games that he loved and showing off more of my dorkly knowledge.
All in all, I kicked a** today and even Mary made the comment about how I cemented a place with Matt for myself and how it was things that like made him think highly of me next time a store opened and it needed a manager.
Worship me, bitches.
