Migraine: A Poem
MIGRAINE written 1/27/08 at 1:10 A.M.

A flash of Pureness somewhere in your mind. And then, Silence, and Blindness. You suddenly realize that you are not breathing, and the realization is followed by a Thud. you wonder where it came from, then, the back of your head tingles and becomes heavy. Another Thud, this one in your chest, then another in your stomache. A wave of cold static water fills you up from the crown of your head down to the base of your spine, making you stand rigid, and shiver, before doubling over in itching, stinging pain.
Your knees buckle, then your legs give out. You begin to choke on some mysterious Nothingness. And then it hits you. The Confusion. The savior Numbness coming to rescue you. You welcome it, and nothing hurts anymore. You are cheerfull all the time, and don't remember pain.
But left alone you are quiet and complentative. You go over it all again in your mind, like a slideshow of agony which tugs at the hair-thin wire attached to your Heart, the same Heart which floats in a dark astral Void.
Your hair stands on end, and your tears carry within them the warmth which they steal from your body. And nobody knows.
Tears of acid, burn and sting.
Can't remember anything.
Words spoken are nonsense, lost in space.
Sanity has left without a trace.
Earthquakes that nobody else can feel.
And the sounds of clanging, ringing steel.
Planets collide with beats of drums.
Strings inside you are being strummed.
Mocking laughter and child-like singing
Echo in your mind and throughout your being.
Lick your own wounds.
Hide in your bedroom.
Curl up like a beast.
Make agony your feast.
Embrace it.
Erase it.
Make someone else scream.
And tell yourslef that it's only a dream.
