Why is it that we keep screwing up our planet? Really. Ever since the beginning of the industrial revolution, we've been polluting water, air, even friggin' LIGHT. Yes, you heard me, light is being polluted as well, as stars die out before we see them because the bright lights of our cities bash them out. And we also seem to have a fetish for getting into fights over things that don't make sense. One, we fight because people don't agree with our policies, thoughts, and ideas.
Second, we fight over material things. We fight over oil. We fight over land.
Third, we seem to be overemotional and completely self-centered about ourselves. We hardly give a d*** for anyone else unless they are closely related to us.
This is the bad stuff. I'm about to name the good things.
We have room for change. We change and adapt all the time, and we're getting better and better at it, so that we don't hurt our home and Mother Nature doesn't decide to give us a giant big b*tch slap to face becuase we keep wrecking her art work.
We have the ability to change ourselves emotionally. We can deliberately become cold, become kind-hearted, become intimidating, or become the preppiest person to walk out of an Aeropostle store.
Another thing. Some of us actually DO care. We care about what happens to the rest of the world. We care that some people are dying out there from starvation and lack of water, when we stuff our faces and drink soda instead of H2O. In fact, thousands among millions are helping the rest of the world.
We also have the right to believe what we want. We can do what we want when we what, where we want. It's the morality of the action that matters.
We also have the ability to look at things from a different view point.
As human beings, we must learn and take meaning from things that seem to have none. We are the guardians of the knowledge we hold. We should share it. We also were gifted with a heightened array of awareness, if we are lacking in the other senses, such as smell or taste. We have these priviliges. But we scorn them and take them for granted. The next time you go outside, appreciate what you have NOW. Think of the intricacy it took to create any single thing and be thankful that you are aware of that intricacy. It's that type of thought that can save us before we become our own demise.
