If dogs could talk#2
Gruff and I awoke to a new sound. It was a “Thunk, Thunk, Thunk” Those continuous bangs pierced the chilly morning air. I batted at Gruff’s head telling him to wake up. We left the hay we where sleeping in and peered out the barn door to find the farmer, driving a sign post into the ground. We ran out to greet him in our usual fashion, which as jumping around him, yipping all the while. “Oh! Well hay there you too. Did I wake ya up?” The farmer said with his warm hearted grin. The Farmer looked at the sign, then at us and said, “Well aint that funny? I put this sign out and you too run out here in frenzy.” He gave a little laugh and scratched us behind the ears. Me and Gruff stopped to look at the sign which read, “Puppies for sale to good home.” I looked at gruff and asked me. “Forget that,” I said. “What’s a puppy?” We gave the farmer a confused look. “Dose that sign have to do with us?” I asked Gruff. Gruff sighed and said, “I wish humans could under stand us.” I shook my head and responded, “Ya, humans are stupid.” Gruff looked at me. “What are you talking about; you didn’t even know what “Puppies” are.” “Do you?” I asked in response. Gruff hung his head in defeat at this. I gave a triumphant laugh. “I didn’t think so.”

That day we heard another new sound. It was a car. Certainly, we heard the farmer’s truck, but we never heard one like this. It was smaller and had some form of loud noise emanating from it, I think it was what humans called “Metal music?” The strange new car pulled into the driveway of the farmer’s farm. A man came out of it, no older than 21 in human years. His black hair was in spikes, an he wore black cloths. I could tell then and there, he was not a good person. I didn’t like him one bit.

“Well howdy there!” The farmer said in his usual old sing- song like voice. “You here about the puppies?” The farmer asked politely. “Ya, what ever” The stranger said in a deflecting manor that conveyed his annoyance. I heard Gruff give a low growl behind me. “Gruff… Don’t do it.” I cautioned him. “We have to get that man away from the Farmer, he’s not good. If you wont help, I’ll do it.” He said, leaping into motion, barreling towered the two. It was too lat for me to stop him. The path was already set. Our two fates where decided at the moment gruff reached the stranger. I would be left alone for a long time. Good bye Gruff, my brother.
