In England 1587, there once lived a man by the name of Henry F. Toiler. He was very wealthy and owned lots of land. One day Henry was in his room reading a book about the ways of an assassin. He put the book on his desk once he finished chapter three, The Best Targets. "Good targets for assassins are people in power, the wealthy, and people who own large amounts of land," recited Henry, "I must hire someone to protect me since I am a potential target for assassination!"

So Henry had signs posted up all over town stating that he was hiring a skilled young man to become his bodyguard. The next day, a line of over a hundred young men stretched from Henry's courtyard into the street. Each one of them had the potential, but were not skilled nor disciplined enough. Except for one. That one, Edward Stirring, was the one Henry had been looking for. Edward was skilled in every way Henry could think of. So thus, Edward was the guard. Edward was the best guard Henry had ever seen; strong, intelligent, and loyal. Everything went fine... until one year later...

Henry had decided to go out to eat at a fancy restaurant and took Edward with him for protection. Henry was eating his dinner while Edward stood by his side alert and aware of his surroundings. Edward heard a click and snapped his head in the direction of the window. He saw a man lying on the roof of the neighboring building with a gun pointed in Henry's direction. The man pulled the trigger, and Edward pushed Henry out of the way and took the bullet.

Edward was taken to a doctor's house with Henry by his side. The doctor undid Edward's shirt and made a shocking discovery. Edward.. was a girl. She had wrapped bandaged around her chest to hide her gender. Henry was outraged. He thought he could trust Edward, but apparently he can't anymore. What disgusted him even more was the fact that Edward was a girl.

So despite everything Edward (Who's real name was Elizabeth) had done for Henry, he had her hanged. After everyone had left the hanging of Elizabeth, Death came to claim her soul. "This one had much potential.." Death mumbled, "Those humans call me unforgiving when they are truly the unforgiving ones." Why should I be as wasteful as they who kill such an incredible soul as this?" So instead of sending Elizabeth's soul to either Heaven or Hell based on her actions, Death made a deal with her to let her have immortality if she became his servant. And thus, Death's Butler was born.
