In 2008, war was beginnin'
With Zee still sulking, things have been a lot calmer in the CDC household. Pepper's attitude change put everyone in the Halloween spirit. The jack outfits were being cleaned by Tina, who happened to be walking through the lounge room while Zee moped in a corner, and Zapook was watching television.
The news bulletin caught Tina's attention, and even pulled Aussa and Koopling into the living room to watch. Four races in Gaia had gone to war with each other, and had been fighting for a couple of days now.
Seeing this gave Zapook an idea.
"Let's make this Halloween memorable. I say we join this war."
Aussa's and Tina's eyes went wide. Koopling grinned evilly, and Zee's ears perked up in interest. Seeing she had everyone's attention, Zapook continued, "Ok...so we have nothing to do with this little race war, sure. But I think we can make things interesting. Let's join, and all of us pick a different side. Who ever wins our little wager, well...we'll decide on a prize later."
Zee mumbled from her corner, "What about Xao Xao? Aren't you gonna return her to normal?"
Zapook laughed, "Oh come on, we can do that another time. Let's enjoy this holiday while we got the time."
"I do not know...War is not exactly something I could allow this family to take part in." Tina sighed.
"Oh, I'm sure there's a way to treat the wounded Ms. Tina." Aussa nodded, "Let's do it! It could be fun!"
"Oh fine..." Tina mutters, "So...which races are involved?"
"Lets see here..." Zapook stated, taking a piece of paper and setting it on her lap, whipping out a pencil as she began to write and draw, "We have...Vampires, Humans, Dark elves, and Zombies. Each one of us should join a side. Zee! Get over here! You should come pick too!"
"Wait!" Tina shouted, "Zee was caught up in the confusion of these battles last year. Dare we bring out that destructive spirit yet again?"
Zapook nodded, "This kind of thing could cheer her up! Now...I call vampires for obvious reasons. What about you Aussa?"
"I don't know..."Aussa said, scratching the back of her head.
Zee slowly made her way toward the others, looking down at the paper, and quietly pointing toward the zombies.
Zapook stared at her counter part, then nodded, penciling Zee's name in.
Tina grabbed Zapook's hand, "Now wait just a moment. Zee never liked zombies, and now she is wishing to side with them?"
Zapook shrugged, "Maybe she made that choice to get her tail up and moving."
"Or maybe she is wishing to commit suicide." Tina added.
Zee sighed, "A little of both really..."
Zapook glared at Zee, "If you die out there...I'll kill you." As Zee, Tina and Aussa stared at Zapook in confusion, Zapook began writing on the paper once more. "Let me guess, Tina, you'll be with the humans?"
Tina smiled, "Sorry to disappoint, but no. I am actually very curious about these dark elves. I do believe I shall side with them since I did not get the chance to see them in action for the summer games."
Zapook mumbled, "You ain't missing much....Anyways, that means Aussa's sticking with the humans."
Aussa smiled, nodding, "Fine by me. You guys know I don't mind humans much."
Zee growls, "Yeah...we remember..."
"Can we not bring that up? Please?" Zapook snapped, "Now, we're still in costume, yeah? I'll take Xao Xao and Boem with me. Tina, You got Wolven and creepy girl Pepper, right?" Tina nodded, and Zapook continued, "Aussa, think you can handle Fluffles?"
Aussa giggles, "I love that little ball of feathers! Sure!"
"Good." Zapook nods, "And Zee will have Koopling and Whiplash."
Once their little meeting was over, Zapook kindly helped Zee to a room doing her best to perk Zee up to no avail. By the time Zee showed even a little bit of cheer, Zapook had gathered her, Aussa, and Tina in the front room, going over meeting times and what not. Zee and Tina both received potions that helped temporarily turn the two sisters into the races they'd be going. Zapook and Aussa didn't need it, seeing as how Zapook was already a vampire, and Aussa could easily alter her appearance to look human.
From then out, taking their charges with them, they all left, spreading out all over Gaia as they made their way to four different home bases. They all forgot one thing though...
Ekone was left in the house by himself, and sat on the front step, sadly looking down toward the ground while the foxes that had gathered in front of Tina's house began to gather around him. "Why am I always left out..."
