The Exciting Life Of The One And Only...ME!!!!
My Gothic Short Story
yeah, i had to write a gothic short story for americn lit. so here it is. its ok, i guess....

Taylor

I filmed my first movie at fifteen. That was four years ago, I am nineteen now. I have been in three movies, and was just offered a new one. Finally the one I have been waiting for, something different. Something that will show people that I am a serious actor.
My first movie, well, was a bubble gum princess movie. I do not think I wore
any other color besides pink during the entire movie, or pants for that matter,
just dresses. I was just so happy to be in a movie, it was just a small lead role,
but I was so excited then that I did not care, plus I was fifteen so a princess
movie was perfect.
The other movies I have done have not been much of a set up. Although I
was the lead actress for both, a big feat…for a human. Yes, yes I said human. It
may come as a surprise but most of Hollywood is made up of the …undead.
Vampires. I am one of the very few humans to have made it this far in show
business. I have worked for my career. Going to countless auditions, being
rejected for many of them for the sole reason that I was not a vampire. I was
not just handed my success because I was just naturally good at acting. It took
many lessons, not something vamps have to do.

Every vampire is born with a different special ability. Some acting, others singing, more painting. Even almost all of America’s presidents have been vamps. How else could they win so many votes and be able to handle such a thing as run a country?
The only reason that I am allowed to know these things is that I have to, being around so many vamps all the time. I would have started to notice things and question them if I was not told in the beginning. They could not have that. Humans in show business know their secret. They have probably even fed one of their friends at some point or another.
I have. I fed my friend Racquel a year or so ago. He is the one that told me that vampires existed and almost everyone else I had met in the business was one. However, getting back to that day, he had not eaten in a long time. He needed blood and I was the only human around. I trusted him not to take any more than was needed and that would harm me. He had already told me the dynamics of what happened so I offered my blood to him.
When he bit into my wrist, it was just as he told me it was going to be. Like two sharp needles piercing into my skin. My mouth fell open in pain but I did not gasp. Not wanting to upset him. Then he carefully extracted his fangs from my wrist and licked the wound, stopping the pain immediately.
“Better?” He had asked, after he had licked my bite. There had been my blood on his teeth.
“Much.” I had sighed. Racquel had grinned then, satisfied and continued with his meal.

When he had finished, he licked the bite mark again to heal it, using different saliva then the one that had stopped the pain. All my side effects were sleepiness, and
dizziness. I had told my manager that I had not eaten that day, not uncommon for a teenage movie star. (Vamps are strictly not allowed to feed on humans who are also in the business, so I could not tell anyone.)
What Racquel did not tell me was why he was the way he was. Why anyone of his kind are the way, they are. How it works. Only that it has to be done and the actual process as to not freak me out when it actually happened. I do not know if he even knows exactly why.
My fourth movie. It is a horror movie. Perfect for me to get rid of my princess image. We started filming a couple of days ago. The set was an old run-down house just on the outside of town. It had given me the creeps just looking at the outside of it. Inside was another story. Nobody had lived there for hundreds of years. The electricity inside did not even work. We had to bring stuff, like lights, to location. It was very creepy until we got them all loaded in.
After our day of filming, Racquel (who was also in this movie, an unexpected perk) asked me to stay late so we could catch up. We had not had an extended amount of time to talk in a long time. Therefore, I was walking around in the basement of this rickety old house waiting for Racquel when all of the lights went out. I was suddenly plunged into darkness. I whirled around trying to find something that I could make out in the extreme darkness. My pulse reflexively quickened being in the dark old house.

Without any of the power on, no humming of the generators, I could now hear the wind whistling outside and the house creaking while trees banged up against the side
of the house. Rain pummeled the roof, sounding like tiny gunshots, while distantly I could hear thunder rumbling. I stood there in the absolute blackness, completely blinded, listening, my pulse tripling and my heart pumping out of my chest. My breathing quickly turned to hyperventilation when I heard the sound of footsteps behind me in the dark.
I twirled around so fast I nearly fell, my eyes searching everywhere for the person who had made the sound of the footsteps. The steps getting louder and louder, echoing my heart, I did not see him until he was five feet in front of me.
“Racquel! You scared the living daylights out of me!” I gasped clutching my heart. It was just Racquel, Racquel my best vampire friend.
“What’s so great about living?” He asked coolly, his eyes dark.
“Wh-whatdoyoumean?” I stammered, my pulse quickening rapidly.
“Living? It’s over-rated in my opinion.”
I could barely see him through the intense darkness, my heart hammering so hard I thought it would fly out of my chest.
“I…I…dis-disagree.” I stuttered through my quick breaths that were escaping me.
“Do you?” He asked edging closer. “You have so much natural talent, do you know how good you could be if you were a vampire? And do you know how good you taste? That day, so long ago, I was not really in need of blood. I just couldn’t take it any longer. I needed to know. It was more than I could have imagined. That’s why I have been avoiding you. I knew if I got you alone then I would turn you and make you mine. This is precisely why we are here.” He said smiling wickedly, gesturing around the surrounding.
“No.” I whispered shaking my head. I did not want this. No! Not me! My pulse quickened again even though I did not think it possible.
“Ahh. Soon that embarrassing heart will no longer give away your fear. It will be silent. Forever.”
“No!” I screamed. “No! I…I…don’t want to be a vampire! NO!”
“Yes, yes you do.” Racquel said slowly. “You just don’t realize it yet. It’s better than you can imagine. The speed,” he raced quickly to stand in front of me, making me jump back in terror, “the silence,” he ran three silent laps around me, “the hearing! I can hear the radio in the car driving by this house!”
“No!” I said again. Even though it was more of a whisper. I was too scared: my knees were shaking violently beneath me, my palms sweating horrifically, my head spinning wildly.
“One day you will thank me.” He said simply, beaming again.
“No.” I whispered one last time as he quickly and smoothly came to stand before me.
He leaned down and sank his teeth into the flesh in my neck, silencing my racing heart forever…
