I'd Like to Tell You About a Book, Kids.
Ever heard of Twilight? Well, one of my friends (Who I'm not going to mention now, because there's a remote change she may see this.) LOVES this book, and yet everyone I find on Gaia seems to hate it. So I wonder, what's all the fuss over some book? So I read it. At least some of it. And I've got to go with Gaia on this one. The book is AWFUL. Bella, the main character, has no personality other than her desperate need for the love of an emotionally abusive jackass vampire named Edward, making it so anyone who reads it can pretty much instantly "relate" to her. She's annoying, boring, and melodramatic. In the beginning she narrates how she cried all night because she moved in with her dad. Apparently she doesn't mind showing complete favoritism when it comes to her parents. And her name, Bella Swan, brakes what I think is one of the most important rules of writing. When you give a character a name that directly links with the plot, it comes off as corny and immature. For example, you're writing a horror story. The main character's name is Raven Darkwood. Get the idea?
UGH. Kids, I hope you never have to deal with book fads.
