Welcome to the third installment of "Cool-Awesome-Radical Websites (besides this one)"! =D I'm your host, Fox.

Now, in light of the coming fall season (and the fact that this is my last day of summer vacation gonk ), I have decided to give you an EDUCATIONAL EDITION of C.A.R.W. :3 In this entry, I will give you my top 3 educational sites. NO, Wikipedia will not be one of them.

No, I mean Wikipedia will come later on in C.A.R.W. Personally, I use it for reasons that are not always educational. ...yes, I browse Wikipedia for fun sometimes; I'm a geek like that, don't laugh. emo

Anyways, onto some helpful educational sites! =D

If you are doing a project on a specific country and its statistics, looking for flags, or just have a burning desire to know how many kilometers of coastline Norway has (25,148 km, in fact), then look no further! This website has literally saved my butt on a couple of country projects way back in middle school (okay, not quite literally, but you get my point). ^_^ It has statistics on EVERY country: everything from HIV/AIDS prevalence to currency. AND, best of all, everything has been updated as of August 21, 2008, so everything is very up-to-date just in time for this school year. =) In short: VERY, VERY useful site!!

Anybody who is studying a foreign language will find this useful. :3 I found this to be slightly more accurate than Babelfish (which some of you might know about), but maybe that's just for Spanish. *shrugs* I dunno. Anyways, this website offers free translation of English, Spanish, Russian, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, Chinese (simplified and traditional) and Japanese. *breathes* XD That was a mouthful. It also does professional translations (oooh =O), but those cost real money. ^_^; Now, remember: don't rely completely on these; the FREE translations are not 100% accurate, especially when it comes to phrases, as opposed to single words. Note: For those of you wanting to translate Greek, I suggest going here instead. ^_^

9) Son of Citation Machine

Yes, many of us have been there: your teacher wants you to write something up, and you have to cite your references. But figuring out all the little details can be pretty darn annoying. SO, why not let a computer do it for you? That's what they are for, after all. =) You can choose from 4 different formats (APA & Chicago are the most common ones, but they also have MPA and Turabian), then pick the type of reference you used. Input the information, and bingo! You have your citation! You might have to delete an extra period or something (since this machine isn't totally perfect), but this site is worth a look the next time you have to cite stuff. :3

So, there you go! =D Three educational websites guaranteed to help you in school (and, occasionally, life in general). The next one might not be for a while because, as I mentioned above, I'm going back to school tomorrow. xP Oh well~
