...the cross-stitch I was working on. I found one while I was away on vacation that looked cute to me. So I bought it (half off too. Woohoo!) After thinking about it though, I decided it wasn't one that I would really keep after completion. So I decided to make it and give it to one of my friend's daughter. She's a little girl who I think would appreciate it.
Here are some close-up shots of the wand and the crown. They were difficult to do because originally they wanted the stiches in this pearlescent ribbon (which was not going to happen...). You can see the ribbon in the close-up of the wand. So I improvised by using a light color and some pearlescent blending filament. Still wasn't a cakewalk to do, but at least it was easier and I am mostly pleased with the effect.
I meant to scan in the original picture they had of the cross-stitch to show you the difference between how they stitched it and how I did. The original pattern had only whole stitches, which made for a bad image in my opinion. Many things were either outside the lines or left big white spots within the letters. So I did my best to improvise and patch up the letters. A few stitches still went outside the lines, but not as badly as they could have.
