Another personal favorite and one of my best...so I've been told at least.


Clean up the sheets
Fix up the room
Drag it all out
And dispose of it soon

Check all the rooms
Lock all the doors
Clean up the mess
All over the room

Water the plants
Up on the bou
Dig it all up
And bury it now

Dust off the shelves
Align all the books
Looking at memories
Of pictures you took

The spoons and the forks
Put them in the drawer
Promise yourself
You won't talk of this more

You walk out the front
At the end of the day
The things that were given
You throw them away

Pull out the keys
And start the car
Wishing it wouldn't
have gone this far

Drive out the garage
And into the street
Look to your right
At the empty seat

You drive down the road
Three miles away
Your back at the spot
Where once you both lay

Sit next to the tree
Look up at the sky
Feeling alone
You let out a sigh

Look at the sun
As it goes away
Look at yourself
At the end of the day
