Honestly, I can only think of one reason a mod is needed urgently. Every other time it makes no difference to the outcome if there's a little delay.

It sounds mean of me, but I hate it when people put URGENT in their PMs to me. Honestly, it's not urgent.

I'm going to give some examples of things that are not urgent and what you shouldn't immediately PM a moderator about. Non-urgent things don't need an online moderator, they can be PMed to any moderator and be dealt with when the mod gets to it.



My item has gone missing!
Generally people find the item in their storage or marketplace, they've forgotten where it is.

You need to check your marketplace logs and your trade history. If you have unfamiliar trades there then you probably have been hacked and should Report a Hacking and then change your password.

If there is no mention of the item anywhere there, check your mules and storage/house. Sometime people forget exactly where they keep their things.

If it really isn't there, then you can PM a mod and we can see if there are any inventory problems that could be affecting you. But this isn't exactly urgent.


The marketplace hasn't given me my gold/item(s)!
The marketplace often lags with selling and buying. Generally waiting a few days for the lag to catch up does result in your stuff being returned.

If it has been an extraordinary amount of time (I'm talking about a couple of weeks) then there may be a problem. Check the Q&A, are there any marketplace glitches around at all? Does anyone have info there?

Marketplace lag isn't something I can help with, I'm not a developer, I don't deal with bugs or glitches at all.


I've been hacked!
Honestly, unless you're currently in the middle of being hacked there's nothing I can do. You need to fill out a hacking report.

The wait time is a little while, it is definitely not as bad as it was but it isn't an hour either.

Either way, PMing me doesn't really get anything done. I can't hurry it along, I can't deal with the hacking myself (that's another team of mods job). The situation is going to have to be investigated anyway.


My trading pass has been disabled!
Honestly, if your pass has been disabled there is a good reason for it. You can PM us for a general reason, but it usually follows the line of "something's going on and we turned off your trades".

Either way, this isn't urgent either.


Can you check this trade for botting/bad things?
Short answer, no.

Long answer, we don't do that.


I can't access towns/fishing/flash enviroments!
Honestly, this isn't urgent. Check the Q&A for help.



This sounds mean of me, but I'm not technical support on Gaia. I don't know why towns isn't working for you, and that's not my job here. I deal with TOS violations and rule breaking, I give warnings, delete bad threads, generally smack people around.

Gaia's helpdesk is the Q&A and her subforums. If you need assistance then you should post there. Only rarely should you need to PM a mod directly, there is usually a better way of going about things.

Never PM multiple mods about the same issue! We do know when that happens and will smack you for it. It's a pain in the a** honestly.


What I'm trying to say there is all of the examples I've listed above are non-urgent, they don't need an online mods attention. That list isn't exhaustive, they're only ones I could remember off the top of my head.

It is never ok to post moderation things in a mod's profile comments! Profile comments are for leaving comments, they are not for reporting things or gaining a mod's attention about a TOS issue.


Here's the only example I can think of where you would need an online moderator and it would be ok to go hunting for one.

Help! There's a porn/gore/password-popup troll making mutiple threads/posts in ______ forum, and nobody seems to have seen it yet!
With this one, it helps to report the troll (a thread, a post, you don't need to report everything they've done) and then PM the report # to a mod to deal with immediately. Some things do deserve bumping to the top of the queue.
