A couple of weeks ago or so (as it balances out) I went from probie (sounds so very odd) to a Moderator Assistant, something which comes with the green name (Frankly, it would have been easier if as a MA I didn't have a green name. I got so many messages from people who assumed Green = Full Mod).
Anyway, a week ago I got bumped from MA to Site Moderator. Colour doesn't change, but the title changes and I get a couple of shiny new buttons.
Yada yada. This is just me writing about my last week. Of course I wont go into detail as obviously I'm not allowed and if you've ever applied for the mod training program or to join the BETA Testers you'll know why.
Firstly, just from this week I've seen how enormous the task is to keep Gaia semi-sane (Let's not go into the GD or CB for now). The mountain is huge, and completely daunting.
But it is getting smaller, and the mountain is being dug away. It wont be too long until the mountain is just an ordinary mole-hill.
Which brings up some annoyance with a couple of threads I saw. Pretty much because the GD is a troll haven mods are lazy. Seeing a fraction of the work going on (I've only seen a fraction) I can tell you this, they are working bloody hard to get through everything.
It's sad, but the fad in SF it seems is to shoot down and make everything out crappily. Take a happy pill for Zac's sake, and stop looking at everything half-empty.
Anyway, back to my week. There's a lot of learning, as so many different things happen on this website.
I've had friendly replies, and I've had the assholic replies as well (most which crack me up honestly).
But it has been fun at least ^_^
One thing though, there are few reasons to directly PM a Moderator. Most PMs asking questions are things that the Q&A handle. Then again, they don't bother me, just ask the question.
It's a little annoying when someone goes "Can I ask a question?".
You just did, want to ask another? Instead just ask away, and if I can answer or point you in the right direction I will.
