"Nerd!!" called out the quarterback of the school football team. Noel had her face buried into her Uglies book, sipping out of her juice box. She pushed up her glasses, ignoring the rude guy. A leaf fell directly onto the page she was reading. I guess you'd expect that when you sit under a tree. She got distracted and started gazing at Brendan, her crush. He had dark hair and wore glasses like she did. He was one of the most popular guys in school. He glanced over at her and she turned bright red and buried herself back in her book, hoping he wouldn't notice. She looked up again and he was smiling at her. She almost melted. The bell rang and she ran to her locker. She got out two more books and started walking up the stairs. A fast blond girl ran past Noel and rammed into her, knocking down all of the books in her hands. She sighed as she kneeled down to pick them up. Then her hand reaches for her Uglies book, as did another. She looks up and sees Brendan. She blushed and pulled her hand away. "What's this book about anyways? It looks interesting.." he asked. "Uhh.. uhmm.. " She stuttered and ran away. She was so shy, she couldn't even carry on a conversation with him.
She got to her class and began daydreaming about him. His perfect hair, his big blue eyes, she just couldn't stop thinking about him. The day was over, and she was on the bus home. She turned on her Ipod and began listening to Wheatus. She wanted to finish the chapter she was on in her book so she looked through her backpack, but couldn't find it. She searched through all the pockets, but still couldn't find it. "Where could it be?" she thought. She began to go through her day in her head. Then it hit her. Brendan had her book. When he was helping her pick up her books, she probably forgot to get it back from him. Then she started to think about all of the 'what if' questions. "What if he thought I was weird for reading this?? What if doesn't like girls who read for fun?" She didn't fall asleep till five in the morning, only to be woken up a half an our later by her alarm clock. "Five more minutess.." she moaned. She stood up, only to trip on one of her shoes laying on the floor. "Ouch.." *knock knock!* she heard from her computer. She ran over, only to trip on the exact same shoe. "Damnitt!" She carefully made her way over to the computer. She sat down. She had an IM!

She went to school and was looking around, hoping to find her secret admirer. She put some stuff in her locker and when she closed it, Brendan was right there. "Where did you.. how.. " she said with a confused look on her face. He laughed and said "I'm magic. So I guess I grabbed your book yesterday." He handed it to her. "Thanks.. " she said quietly. The bell rang. "So i'll catch you around? " he asked. "Uh.. yeah.. " she replied. "Cool." he said and smiled. She went in the bathroom. She was blushing still. She was still glad she didn't faint right there in front of him. At lunch, she sat next to her friend Sam. "ohemgee Sam! This morning, I got an IM form a 'secret admirer!" she told Sam. "Oooh! Who do you think it is?" "I have no clue.. hopefully i'll get to talk to him on IM again after school. " She looks over and she sees Brendan looking at her. She looks away fast. "Is it just me, or is Brendan staring at you?" asked Sam. "ohmygod!!" said Noel. "What do I do?!" "Go talk to him!!" "I can't! Every time I get tongue tied and then I turn bright pink!"
She got home and plopped down on her bed. *knock knock!* She ran over to her computer.

She sank in her chair. She had a date for the valentines day dance. But.. wait.. she didn't have a dress!! She ran into the kitchen and picked up the phone, dialing Sam's number. Answering machine. "Hey Samantha? I REALLY need you to pick up the phone right now.. PICK UP!!" "Hello??" "SAM!!" "What??!?" "You know that 'secret admirer I was telling you about?!? He kind of just asked me to go to the valentines day dance with him.. " "OH MY GOD! THAT'S GREAT!!" "It is!! But what am I supposed to wear??" "Hmm.. Well, Noel, you are just in luck to have a best friend that has a brother that has a girlfriend that works at a dress shop. biggrin " "Omg. I love you Sam!!" "I know. Meet me at my house at 4 and I'll help you pick out a dress, kay?" "Okay. Thanks!" "No prob!" She walked over to Sam's house. "Let's go!" They got to the store and as soon as Noel walked through the door, she smiled. Sparkles, frillys, and polka dots. Anything you'd ever imagined. She picked about 7 dresses to try on. The first 2 didn't fit right, the next 2 were to short for her liking, the next 2 were just.. ugly, and then, the very last one, was perfect. "You sure it's not to girly, Sam?" "I'm sure. That's SOO cute! It looks great on you!" "Okay. "
By the time next week came around, it was 1 day 'till the dance. She was getting so nervous. She got on the computer that day and her 'secret admirer was online.

Supernerdlvr04: Yeah. I just need to get my contacts so I don't have to wear my glasses
teenagedirtbag7: You wear glasses? That narrows it down to.. what.. 300 other people??
Supernerdlvr04: Yeah haha.

Sam came over so they could do each others hair. *knock knock!*
"ooh! It's your looovveerrr. ;D" "shut up!!"

She walked out the door with Sam in her red, silky dress complimented with a black sash. They got to the dance and Noel was still very embarrassed about her dress. She thought that she didn't look good in it or that her 'secret admirer' wouldn't like it. She got to the middle of the dance floor, looking for her 'secret admirer'. All she could see was a bunch of people grinding on each other and some nerdy guy walking over to her. Uh-oh.. Could it be?? "Uhm.. are you... ?" He turns and walks around her to the girl behind her and starts sucking face. "Wow.. " She sighed as she looked around. No white rose. No secret admirer. She had just about given up hope. She felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and it was Brendan. He had his dark hair spiked and contacts in place of his glasses. His tuxedo was black with a rich red bow tie. She almost didn't recognize him. Then she noticed.. he was holding a white rose.
"Brendan..? Are you.."
"Supernerdlvr04? Yep."
"Wow. Are you serious??"
"Were you expecting someone different?"
"Well... I didn't know what to expect.. "
"Are you happy with the outcome?" He smiled and handed her the rose.
She giggled. "Very.
You know, I've liked you for such a long time but everytime I try to talk to you, I get really nervous and then I stutter and this is the first conversation i've had we're I haven't wanted to throw up form nervousness and-"
He put his finger on her lips to close them. "Ssh.. I know, I know. That's why I thought it would be easier to talk to you using IM."
"Yeah.. "
"I'm just so glad i'm actually here with you." he said as he smiled and grabbed her hand.
"Me too." she blushed.
They danced, talked, and flirted for the rest of the night. Then he asked her to be his girlfriend. She, of course, said yes and they were then the cutest couple for the rest of the school year.
