This was her first firearm, given to her by her brother, Akira Shiraki. By his instruction, she learned how to use this gun in order to provide herself protection. She doesn't use it much. Only in emergencies where either the well being of anyone in the orphanage is threatened or herself. Very few exceptions. It's a double action handgun that fires off 11 bullets before it needs to be reloaded. With her strong arms, it's not a problem to carry or wield. Along with her exceptional accuracy, she shows that she isn't just some novice.
Acupuncture Needles
More of a backup, than an actual weapon, she always keeps them with her. She's trained herself to use them, effectively, after reading and taking some from the many abandoned pharmacies. These needles ,ultimately, are thinner than the size of a single strand of hair, so it's not like syringe. Mainly for close combat, if she's in a pinch or finds the opportunity, she'll use them on a person to give them a disadvantage...if only for a short while. They're effective for the fact that, most of the time, once a needle is placed, the receiving person doesn't feel it at all, and could forget that it's there. For example, if she pinned the point behind the shoulder to disable a nerve, the person wouldn't be able to feel that part of the body, but yet, wouldn't feel the needle causing it.
Skill(s): Medicine: Asami studied under medicine for quite a long time, and is an exceptional medic. Whenever there was a child that looked to have suffered injuries from the gang wars, she treated them herself. She knows many sorts of medicine to a high degree, that she could help or harm.She also took off into acupuncture, familiarizing herself with the pressure points in the their respectable places on the body and the effects they have.
She also has good accuracy, having learned firearms from Akira, and taught herself in pressure point. You have to be pretty accurate for that, for sure.
Special Technique:
Shiatsu: Or simply, acupuncture without needles. By using her hands to massage the body and it's pressure points- to stimulate the body's self-healing system- she can release blood flow and energy and concentrate it on the place of injury for faster relief of pain and a shorter recovery time. This can be done in reverse, however and cause much pain as the point could be stimulated by much pressure and lock in blood flow and energy to any part of the body.
Bio:
Asami was born and raised in this hellish town, alongside, her older brother, Akira. She, like any other child, hadn't paid that much attention to gangs and the like, continuing on with her everyday life, while heeding her parents warnings of maintaining her own safety. She didn't go outside often when she young. Being the youngest of the family, she relied on the others. It wouldn't be long, when everything came crashing down, like it had for many of youths, her age. Her parents would be found dead, on the streets, innocent victims to gang violence.Like the average kid in this battlefield of a town, she lost precious loved ones to gangs, guns, and hatred.
The harsh reality of the world she lived in came down upon her as the gang wars seemed to get worse, and the death toll stumbled its way up the in numbers. She could no longer be the child that shrugged it off as just ' It happens alot here. I shouldn't mind it too much'. It wasn't something that just happened everyday. Innocent bystanders died and someone, somewhere, was suffering for it. Along with Akira, she took up the chores that were necessary to survival. Getting a job, meant having to be on the street somewhere, and that meant an easy kill. So she found other means as to getting food, and the sorts the she needed. She could dream and wish all she wanted, but nothing would come to comply to her desires.
It seemed like everyday she lived in the negative feeling of worry, pretense, and fear.Not just for herself, but for her brother who had taken to joining the street life. This became a natural part of her everyday living. It was reasonable. She already lost her parents to fighting...would she lose her brother, too? She could only hope and wait- be it for days, weeks, even months, if need be- for him to return. She knew that he could be dead as soon as he stepped out the door. There was nothing she could do about it. He wouldn't listen to her. He did teach her how to work her first gun, .45 Baby Eagle. At least she had some protection. She only kept it for emergencies. As for her brother, she didn't really see him much. He went on to work for Rosemary. Despite their intentions, she wanted nothing to do with the mafia.
One day, on her way back from getting food, she spotted an empty bookstore, venturing in out of curiosity. There, she found books on medicine. Figuring that these would be helpful for whenever her brother came around, she took a few, and went home. From them on, she collected and studied in those books, learning about the medical field. This was also how she picked up acupuncture. It wasn't hard to get supplies from pharmacies. The government had long withdrawn their support to the town, so access to once secure things was easy if you knew where to look.
Time passed, and she practiced her learnings on stray injured animals, carrying the small collection of needles that she used everywhere she went. If you used them right, they'd make great weapons.She avoided that as best as she could. But just as the original saying states- never bring a knife to a gunfight- you'd have to have a death wish to bring a needle instead. After awhile, she would learn how to throw the needles like they were knives, seeing as they were her only source of protection, besides her hands, themselves. She never really considered them weapons,though. Acupuncture needles weren't made for that, being smaller than a single strand of hair.
One day, while on her way back home, She came across an injured man that had been short in the chest and was bleeding profusely. Even if she had the items to treat him, he would've died from blood loss. So, the best she could do for him was apply a needle to the closest active point and make the pain go away. He did die a painless death. As soon as that was done, she was ready to leave, when she spotted a child hiding in the narrow alley. He seemed to be injured, so she took him with her and treated him. This is what caused her to notice all the children out on the street a bit more, taking more into her home. It was soon that she had came across an abandoned building. It was fairly big and seemed like it used to be a department store at one point.
She had a stroke of intelligence. Using what little money she had, she found a landlord that would sell her the building. So she invested in it, and cleaned the place up. She moved the children from her home to the building, and it was now an orphanage. She figured that the people of this broken city owed it to these children, having stole away what so little they had to begin with. She'll take in anyone in need and protect them with her life. This included her brother and a little girl he 'found in the streets'. When he came to her that day, she let them in with argument. She even talked him into staying. She took care of the child, Reiko, until she was well enough on her own.With Akira opening up his shop and helping out, everything seemed to go well. She didn't even mind him using the basement. she trusted him enough to be smart in what he was doing.But she was starting to notice just how strange of a child, Akira brought in. Despite of the bond the two seem to have, she was curious. She was noticing just how different Reiko really is.
