"Ah, so you want to hear a story, do you?" said Jack with a devilish grin. "I think it's time again to tell the tale of Beatrice the Fire Maiden." The children stared at him, eyes wide with excitement and fear, as he began his tale:
Many years ago, when the land was fair and green, there was a village that was nestled in the tranquil valley of Thandia. The villagers were a stern, supersticious lot, wore austere clothing and kept their thoughts to themselves. Most of the time. However, there was one villager that the others shunned: a young women by the name of Beatrice. No one knew her last name, or even where she came from. They just knew that she was different. Though she tried to be quiet, meek and kind, as was expected of all the village women, she had a firey temper, and the ugliest rags she could find could not hold back and tame her wild red hair. But what really scared the villagers was her fascination of fire.
