Hryia, where magic rules and technology is a myth. Every day, more and more people are being slottered for not having magic. According to the Dae, they are abominations.
The Dae are a collection of people who claim they keep chaos down. But in reality, they stir it to it's rim. That is what magic has become in this world. Chaos.
Originally, magic was a gift to this world from a god. But, as humans have abused the world they walk on, they have abused that gift.
In a matter of a few decades, the humans changed the world entirely. Factories became rubble, intelligence became rare, and nature itself became extinct.
The Dae formed from the few intelligent people left. Realising what had happened was simple. And when the rest of the world is disabled, the Dae knew how easy it would be to take a primitive population and command it.

The Dae is formed of all intelligent women who have very strong magic. Magic seems to be stronger in intelligence. Maybe it is due to the creativity of how to use it. Maybe not. Women seem to be decreasing rapidly in numbers due to the fact that hormones drive their magic out of control.

Magic has an effect and an equivalent consequence for that effect. Lets say you want a potato. So you summon a potato. You eat the potato, but it never hits your stomach. It goes right back to where it was in the first place.
I guess that example didn't tell you much, so I'll tell you a different one.
You teleport some where to meet some one, but no one can see you.
As you can see, it can be easy to take that consequence and turn it into some thing useful, which the Dae have learned to do.

A theory has arose that since the gift of magic probably had required magic to give; maybe it also has a consequence. The theory suggests that the consequence of the gift is that it slowly destroys the gifted. According to the theory, magic may have been a curse to rid the world of humans; not a gift to the humans. This theory, unfortunately, was made by a non-magi, so it did not get very far.

Food is actually getting harder and harder to find, for obvious reasons.

At the moment, Almost all of Hryia is at war with Gyn, the last area on Hryia with nature. Gyn is actually the four god's and goddesses haven. The last of the animals have took shelter here too. The Dae estimate a 20 year life span of the entire human population if they don't capture Gyn.

But the gods are now all out against the humans.
