Everyone has a dark corner inside that they fear or embrace or simply live with to the best of their abilities from what I've seen in my years of studying mankind. Each of us have been given light and darkness and as we progress through life, we change the levels of both within our hearts.
From what I see, each individual's goal is to rid themselves of their own darkness to become what they believe to be their light. However, each person has different ideals and one person's darkness could be another's light when given different opinions.
Often times, ridding themselves of this darkness is often found in the embrace of another. Their 'significant other' so to speak.
At the same time, people can find light in something or someone else that are not the significant other but closer to a friend or even inanimate objects that hold precious memories.
It is when such things are lost that a person's light is snuffed out or hindered greatly. So much so that even when new light is found, it will never be the same as it once was. They become lost in their own darkness until they or someone else finally lights the way once again, even if the path is not as brilliant as it once was.
These are the makings of the invisible scars. The kind of wounds that never fully repair and are not of the physical world. However, as hidden as these scars are, they are not impossible to see. The pain they cause can be seen in one's eyes or mannerisms and speach.
I say these things because I have finally realized the words of an old friend who has lost their light and have plumetted back into their darkness. I hadn't quite realized what had happened until recently. Such heart break can leave the most painful of scars. They often have the most terrifying of dreams and have not been believed on too many occounts. They do, however, have a guardian of their dreams that seems to help them through unknown terror. This guardian has been dubbed The Dark Dreamer and I certainly hope he has been taking good care of my old friend while I have been unable to see him. I am worried but something tells me that he will come back again when he is ready and when he does, I will greet him with open arms and simply say.
"Welcome back..."
