Dumb Questions
I'm annoyed at all the dumb questions we're getting in the Q&A lately. Seriously.

Will Gaia ever fix _____?
That is a dumb question.
Why?
Because it only has two answers.

Yes, Gaia will fix _____.
No, Gaia will leave _____ broken forever.

I call it dumb because of course the _____ will be fixed. When is another matter, if you had asked when, I wouldn't call that dumb. But you didn't, you asked will they.

Those threads aren't question threads, they're a not so subtle excuse to rant about how _____ hasn't been done yet. And they don't belong in the Q&A.

Even more annoying is all the dumb answers we're getting.

I don't know, me too, Dunno are dumb. And they break the rules.

If you can't help, piss off. Seriously.

Another thing that bugs me are the answers like this.

Please stop bumping or Your signature is over the limit.

Those are once again not valid Q&A responses. You are allowed to inform someone they're breaking the rules once and only if that isn't your entire post!

This would be fine:
"Yes, you can change your name through ____ link. Also, your signature is over the limits."

This would not be:
"Your signature is over the limit."

Why? Because you didn't add content to the thread! You have to actually have some content relating to the question before you can post.

This isn't completely against the rules, but it is suggested in the Rules thread that you don't do it.

Quote:
Enforcing rules
If a user is violating a rule, then you can at most politely inform them about it. As with the above rule, try to refrain from making this the sole purpose of your post. If they still refuse, continuing to press the issue will not accomplish anything. It is almost always better to just simply report it.

It doesn't say you have to, but it does strongly hint.

Also being told they're doing something wrong does rub people the wrong way, and it makes you look like someone with a stick shoved somewhere dark and sunless. Nobody like people coming in on their pedestal only to say "Your signature is too big".

But saying that, if a person is constantly abusing a rule, then you should politely inform them. But still try to answer the actual question at the same time.

>.<

Next time you find a thread complaining about such, tell them they should go to site feedback, they'd be welcomed with open arms....

HAHA rofl

As far as I'm concerned, "Stop bumping..." posts are fine as long as it can contribute to the bumping issue. If the user just posts, "omg stop bumping lol", it's spammy. But, if the user explains why, links to the forum rules, and so forth, I wouldn't consider it spammy.

That's fine pix, but it is still against the rules. The rules state that informing someone they're breaking a rule cannot be the whole post. If you're not contributing to resolving the thread, don't post - even to tell them their sig is too large.

EDIT: Ok, the rule is there but it requests you don't make enforcing rules the sole purpose of your post. It is still technically allowable, but it tries to say don't do it.

It's still considered a dumb answer in my opinion.

ZOMG, a reply.

And such is my opinion.

I'd rather have the bumping/spamming cease before it is brought to a Moderator's attention. Of course, I'll certainly report the spam as well.

If I can, I certainly won't make enforcing a rule the sole purpose of my post, I rarely do that. But, if I cannot, then I guess I can't.

What about personal preference Questions, you like those? XD I hate em, it's like at work.

Customer: Windows is asking if it wants me to remember the Password? Should I click yes?

Me: I don't know, would you like Windows to remember the Password?

Customer: Oh, well I guess so!

Me: -Thinking- WTF?

@Dari: And to think a while ago I was consoling myself with, "At least people can make their own decisions."
