"Life"

Life starts out,
like just a seed,
planted in the earth.

Then the seed,
works it's way,
digging through the dirt.

But unlike seed,
some life doesn't
have to work it's way.

Some life starts out,
like an ugly duckling.

The ugly duckling
has work too,
but a different kind.

This work could,
not be there,
if there was kindness.

But,alas, there is no kindness,
so the duckling works.

Luckily,this duckling will
be rewarded for it's work.

Some life starts out,
like a slave,
working to survive.

The slave has work too,
of a similar kind.

The slave works,
day and night,
working for it's life.

The slave works,
for it's fammily,
for it's feed,
for it's life.

The work is hard,
and unrewarding,
so the slave waits for death.

So when slave,
meets it's fate,
it's with open arms.


In some lives,
all it needs,
is a bit of kindness.

But,alas,
in these lives,
that is just a myth.

Of the three,
I'd rather live,
the life of the seed.
