In a world full of secrecy and rebellion, there were three girls who lived together in a mansion that their family left them. Each girl had a secret. Jenna Wolfe, 16 years of age, was a Lycan. The second oldest, Bianca Spellman, was 15 years old, was a necromancer. The youngest, Danica Bloodrayne, age 14, was a vampire. They lived in a forest, far away from civilization. They do this for their protection and for the civilians’ protection too.
One Friday night, the moon was in a waning crescent and the girls decided to go out for a movie. Jenna was wearing a black skirt and a gray tank top and a black cover up. Bianca was wearing black shorts and a black sweater. Danica was wearing a black leather trench coat and black pants.
When they arrived at the movies, they hastily bought their snacks and rushed to the theater. On their way they bumped into three guys. The popcorn that Jenna was holding spilled over and scattered all over the carpet floor. Danica’s gummy bears flew to the guy in front of her and landed in his drink. The nacho cheese that Bianca was holding splattered on one of the guy’s shirt.
The girls quickly apologized and said in unison, “We’re really sorry, we’re in kind of a rush.”
The guys smiled, “Well that’s alright.” They instantly offered to buy them new snacks. The girls couldn’t decline.
While they were waiting for their food, the guys introduced themselves. The oldest was Jeff and was the same age as Jenna. Jon, who was 15, got nacho cheese on his shirt. The youngest was Vladimir and was the same age as Danica. Bianca promised Jon that she would help him clean his shirt. Danica joked that Vladimir’s soda would taste better because now it is gummy bear flavored.
After they bought food, they went in the theater together.
When the movie ended, they sat in front of the ticket booth, on a side curb. They talked for a while. The sky was clear and the light of the moon shone brightly. The warm breeze brushed their faces as they looked up the sky. When the girls stood up and finished their conversation, the guys offered them a ride home
“Well that’s very nice of you, what do you think girls?” Jenna asked.
“I’m good with that.” Danica said. “Sure,” Bianca replied.
Jeff ran to the parking lot and got the car. They waited outside the ticket booth. They sat on the side of the road. Clouds covered the moon and the surrounding looked dark and mysterious. The light of the car disturbed the darkness. Jeff parked in front of them. Jon and Vladimir stood up and opened the car door for the three girls. The girls jumped in and they blasted the music, breaking the silence that surrounded them. They drove through the highway leading to the forest. The windows were open so their hair flattered in the wind.
As they parked on the mouth of the forest, Jeff turned off the engine and got down. He opened the door for everyone. Vladimir got down first and the ladies got down next. Jon followed. They insisted on dropping them to their door.
“We’ll just escort you to your house, since this looks like a scary forest at night.” Jon said.
The girls just smiled and led them to their mansion. They passed through the big oak wood tree. The owl hooted as they passed by the tree it was perched on. The boys were amazed by how a house that big would be hidden in the forest. It stood about eight stories high. They also wondered why they lived alone in a really large mansion. They left and promised to come back as soon as they can.
The girls invited them over for dinner the next night. They wanted to get to know each other since they seem to get along fine. The guys accepted and smiled as they walked back down to their car.
The following morning, a sound woke the three sleepy girls. They all looked out the window. They saw three figures wandering around the forest. The girls went downstairs and went to the front door, to see who it was. When they opened the door, they saw the three guys playing paintball. Jeff was hit twice from behind, Jon was hiding behind a tree and Vladimir just kept shooting at random stuff. On the ground by a rock, were three safety vest and three paintball guns. They got dressed and walked towards the guys.
“Hey!” Danica yelled to Vladimir just behind his ear. Vladimir flinched and it made Danica giggle. Jeff and Jon looked back and smiled.
“You guys are quite early for dinner aren’t you?” Jenna said in sarcasm, but she was glad they were here to have fun. The forest was a lonely place to live in, but luckily they have each other.
The three girls suited up and prepared for a battle. It was three teams against each other. Jon and Bianca were the blue team. The green team consisted of Jeff and Jenna. The red team was the two youngest, Danica and Vladimir. They loaded their guns and hid behind the trees. Jeff blew his whistle and the battle begun.
At the end of the game, the winner was the green team. They cheered as the losers groaned. They took out the vests and grabbed their bags. Jenna invited them to their house to freshen up. While Bianca led them to their guest rooms, Jenna and Danica started to prepare for dinner.
When the guys walked down the stairs, the girls’ pet greeted them with enthusiasm. Bianca’s hummingbird flew down and landed on Jon’s shoulders. Jenna’s puppy tackled down Jeff and licked his face. Danica’s bat flapped around Vladimir. Danica looked at Vladimir weird, it was unusual for someone to enjoy a bat flying around him.
As they sat down for dinner, the boys gapped their jaws in awe. The table was set for twelve. The chairs were elegantly carved out of mahogany wood. The table was varnished so that it shone as the silverware lay flat on it. The china was pure gold. The greatest thing on that table was a big turkey sitting in the middle of the long medieval table. Tons of fruits and other food were garnished for a restaurant. The girls smiled and so did the boys. They sat across each other so that they would hear the conversation, but also far enough so that their plates were apart from each one.
I n the midst of dinner, while Jon was telling a story, a sound came from the living room window. They ran to the sound and the girls gasped as they looked upon the face of the intruder.
He stood up, dusting the shattered glass from his clothes. He held a gun and held it up pointing to Jenna. He was indeed one of the hunters that killed their parents. Now he came to finish them. Jenna could smell the bullet, it was silver. She gave a mumbled shriek. At that time, Danica’s eyes turned red and her fangs grew. Bianca had her spell book open and her eyes focused on the man. Jenna’s tail started to show.
“We’re terribly sorry boys, we have a mid-dinner crisis” they all said in unison.
The boys were not bit surprised by what they were turning into. They were also not human. They were the perfect match. Vladimir’s eyes turned red and his fangs glistened by the light. Jeff’s ears pointed straight out as his face grew whiskers. Jon took a book out of his pocket and it glowed as he opened it.
They were ready to kill one man. In a sudden move, the man standing in front of them took out his coat and showed all his weapons. The girls and boys ran out of the house to prevent their mansion from being destroyed.
A shot from his gun fired at a tree just right next Danica. She took out daggers she hid under her sleeves. She threw them at him but she missed. She threw another one and it scratched his thighs. Jenna and Jeff turned into full wolves. They tried to stall him but he just pushed them aside. They hit their backs on a rock and fell unconscious. Bianca and Jon screamed a spell together and lighting stroke the man. It had no effect, he was wearing rubber suit under his metallic armor. It back fired on them and they fell unconscious too. Danica and Vladimir were the only ones left. They ran from what seem to be an invincible man. The man took out an identical gun. He wanted to kill both of them at the same time. Danica looked back and so did Vladimir. They looked at each other and kept running.
The gun fired. Danica’s agonizing scream woke the unconscious. The hunter laughed evilly. Jenna and Bianca gasped. Danica fell forward as the bullet hit her spine. Vladimir fell sideways, but he still held Danica’s hand. The hunter fired another shot. It hit Vladimir on his heart.
As they hit the ground with a soft thud, tears dropped from everyone’s eyes. Jenna plunged forward and but the hunter on his Achilles heel. The man fell backward and at the same time, Bianca set the man on fire with a fire spell. The hunter tried to roll off the flames, but it burned him. Jenna and Bianca just stared at the man, but the two boys ran to where Danica and Vladimir lay. They held each other’s cold dead hand.
When the girls were sure that the hunter was dead, they ran to Danica. They fell to their knees and sobbed over her dead body. The boys sat next to Vladimir and silently let their tears fall. Dawn was arriving. The sun’s light passed though the leaves of the trees. It shone on Vladimir’s and Danica’s faces. They were so peaceful yet disturbed.
At the funeral, there were only four of them. They buried them behind their mansion so that no one would intrude their graves. They swore that they would live until all the hunters in the world are gone.
They set up three graves stones. On Vladimir’s head stone were the words “I will hold her forever.” On Danica’s head stone were the words “I will hold him forever.” On the third stone, the words were engraved in an elegant writing, “Their Screams were the Screams of a Thousand Broken Souls.”
Jenna and Bianca threw down white roses. Jeff and Jon threw yellow roses. They all cried silently as a cold breeze passed by. The hair on the back of their necks stood up. They knew that it was Danica and Vladimir promising that they will never leave them in spirit.
