Once upon a time was meant for someone else.
Fairy tales and poetic rhymes can rot, alone, on my shelf.
Pretty glass slippers will never grace my feet,
Prince charming can remain a frog, while my heart remains asleep.
Dashing looks and charming airs won’t bring me shivers,
A Viking with steel in hand just might make my heart quiver.
Maleficent has already been slain by this Aurora,
Silenced forever by the blade of this woman warrior.
Embrace all that I am, an equal who doesn’t hide,
Love me with true passion, while choosing to fight at my side.
Pompous pampered princes are not what I long for,
This maiden fair doesn’t need rescuing, I am looking for something more.
Look somewhere else for your damsel in distress,
Pretty little nit that needs to be saved.
I stand on my own, relying on my own strength to see me through,
Life’s wicked little game.

- Description: I was reading this article on what women are looking for in men, and how they usually equate wanting a man with wanting the fairytale. Which also reminded of this time when someone once told me to let a guy handle my problems. This is what came of it.
