Of the first Winter little is known. It was born from jealousy and sorrow. The Earth as we know it now is not the Earth as it was then...when she was young.
Men and women lived peacefully thanks to a race of beings from another universe who positioned themselves here as guardians and watchers. They came to be known as the first gods, or protogenoi. Mirna, Lord of the Dawn was their leader; And he was as fair as the fairest bloom...for all flowers opened up before him as did all the hearts of men and women.

Whenever Mirna went to sleep, his sister Re'han would shroud the world in her dark veil, and then would spark the sky with diamonds for all humans to admire and wish upon. They were very much loved these two gods. They instructed people on how to write and the movements of the crystals above.
But there was another protogenoi, born from the nightmares of Mirna; And he came to be known as L'ki; He brought the first quarrel amongst men and the first drop of blood to be spilt in his name. Mirna was not happy with his son, but as Mirna knew not of hatred or sorrow he could do nothing about it;Only love L'ki.

Many moons passed and Mirna spotted a human boy by the name of Adriel; This boy made the birds cease their song... made the very spirits of the trees whisper sweet poems to him in his sacred sleep. And even the wild beasts would lie their heads on his lap.
Mirna's heart skipped a beat, and he knew he ought to have the boy for him...for his delight and pleasure. But L'ki desired the boy as well for his own fell purposes.
As Adriel responded to Mirna's favours and advances; The many flowers that were created in his name... so did L'ki's heart turn black with loathing.

One evening, darker than any other came L'ki on a winged chariot and whisked the young human away. Mirna in his desperation felt the first drop of hatred ever felt by one such as himself; wars raged accross the land, which in turn made the trees wilt and the crops cower in fear. It was all covered in a white veneer of sadness. But it could not last for eternity, and thus Mirna fought his own son L'ki to the very death... knowing L'ki would be reborn each time there was jealousy amongst men. He rescued the boy and life came back to the world of men.
And so each time L'ki rises from the ashes and whisks the Life of the world away, Mirna shrouds the world in cold until his lover returns.
