Well, I managed to get this up a little early ^^ Hope you all enjoy the start of this, i hope i can keep it going for a while to at least tell some of the story that was made over the past years.
"Only one group will survive, we shall be forced to fight for our very existence." A simple, and yet unfortunate fortune, that had started the rift between the races. The humans became fearful of the Elves and Vampires, the Elves became weary of the human's reactive and sheepish nature, and the Vampires used the chaos to their advantage to create even more turmoil. After only a few weeks the tension turned to fighting which didn't take long to turn into an all out battle between the three factions.
Of the three the elven army was the largest, only marginally however, and with the largest army they had the fewest losses of the three. They were coordinated, tactical and with the use of magic were a force to be reckoned with. However the downfall of the large size was the amount of soldiers who disappeared daily. Some were captured, others killed, and some simply deserted the fight the longer it went on. This wasn't a battle filled with trained armies, they were filled with civilians as well, civilians who didn't know much about the hardships of battle when they signed up to fight. It eventually would become too much for most to handle, seeing their friends dying around them, or even having to kill a friend who was forced to the other side because they were of another race.
Each faction made a few excepts and none were against hiring mercenaries of any race, whether they would fight a long side them or infiltrate another faction. Since mercenaries worked mostly off of profit over any form of attachment to the faction that bought their services they were not as much of a concern to the groups, especially those who were not Human, elven or vampiric. Both the Vampires and the elves frequently used the services of demons and spirits, while the humans stuck more to the use of deserters of the other factions. In a war like this money talked, and while any mercenary could be bought out of their current commitment few rarely chose to do so to avoid the repercussions of turning on their employer.
As with every war there were safe havens, and each group had their own preferred locations for them. The elves tended to hide within the forests, the Humans in the cities, and the Vampires hid anywhere where they could avoid the sun during the day and roam freely at night; they especially seemed to swarm around the mountains where caves gave plenty of shelter from the sun.
One such safe haven sat nestled within the cover of the forest near a large lake and resting close to the mountains. While it wasn't entirely safe from attack it was rare and the old yet sturdy building did have some form of glamour spell surrounding it. This glamour spell made it nearly impossible for any of the opposing races to find their way to the building without help or true purpose of finding it and it had a rather large perimeter to allow for time for an alarm to be sounded within the building itself. The building in particular was The Silver Rose Tavern and Inn, an elven safe haven that saw almost constant business during the war. Soldiers, mercenaries and civilians alike all came there to find shelter and some peace while they recovered from the fighting. From the outside it seemed much smaller than it actually was, but with a large main room with a high ceiling, both a backroom and a decent sized kitchen as well as enough rooms to rest a small battalion it was much larger than its exterior seemed. And yet with this size it was still cozy; warm and with an air of comfort despite the looming danger that hovered in the minds of every patron and worker. It became of small beacon of hope to the elven people. No one felt like they needed to constantly be watching every side to watch for an enemy.
This is where it started, where many lives were intertwined and new friendships were forged. Every single face within the building made an impact in someone else's life, some little and some huge; and every single one of them gave each other hope.
