They say more than one world exists, and when people go missing never to be heard from again, they really just went to another world.
In this universe two worlds exist and people are constantly moved back and forth between them against their wills, families torn apart from each other, friends need to find new friends, and pets have bad things happen to them when they inevitably go wild.
The first world is occupant to humans with unique gifts. From these items/traits/whatever, they can perform great feats, such as the manipulation of elements, wielding the power of the mind, or even fly at Mach 3 (You don’t want to fly at Mach 3, but you have the option). These are just the mundane powers. The more exotic ones can get ridiculous or outright horrifying.
The second world doesn't have anything like that. What they have is technology greater than the first world, similar to our own, possibly even greater, in a few aspects.
When people from the first world are pulled into the second one they all appear in the same place, for reasons no one’s quite figured out. It used to be a field but a building was built there for the sole purpose of capturing those gifted people. Not many people go back to their own world and it seems only people from the first world go missing. Attempts to return to the first world have regularly ended in failure for all sides.
Roles that I've thought of prior (All of those from Nexus that go missing at the same time were in A club meeting for their schools Judo club. Those who went missing at other times were in different places.)
Ageha Otonashi: 17 years old, she's from the first world known as Nexus. She can create and manipulate blue fire. She is just arriving in Nirvana (The second world) with four others. She's skilled at martial arts and fighting. She could tell when her brother went missing, she knew he wasn't dead. She keeps a key to my heart necklace she got from Damien years ago with her still, and earrings she got from her brother
Hideyoshi Unno: 15 years old, he's in the same martial arts club as Ageha in Nexus. He has the power over wind, his details can be made more so by who claims him

Bill Blackwood: 18 years old, went to a dance party in Nexus, his first trip to that land in fact, and ended being trapped in Nirvana. He has the power of Mental Influence. While he can’t read minds, he can make people suffer, or even just forget he exists.
Adrian Cross: 17 years old, was in mansion reading the first of a thirty book collection. No one seems to have any clue he even existed. His power is immortality, and while that sounds fun, it doesn't mean he can instantly heal any wound. He can just never die or age.

Those who went missing before the Judo club
Akio Otonashi: Also seventeen, he is Ageha's twin brother. He went missing from Nexus five years ago. He can also create and manipulate fire, his fire is red. He works for the scientists and the government of Nirvana. He specializes in tracking but he isn't exactly good at combat like his sister. He has a bond with his sister, he can tell what she's thinking at most times and he almost always knows where she is. The people he works for are considered the most humane in Nirvana.
Damien Abramov: Seventeen years old, from Russia, he was Ageha's boyfriend but went missing two years ago. He works for an Organization that restrains and researches those from Nexus. Those he works for don't use the most humane methods. He no longer harbors any feelings of compassion for anyone; most of all, the girl who used to be his girlfriend.
