Chapter 8 Part 4 Higher than the Sky
Chapter 8 Part 4 Higher than the Sky

We landed on the remains of the cage. Charlie fell asleep in Vayu’s arms and he carried her as the four of us left this place. We walked back to Kaji’s house to rest. Vayu handed Charlie to his father before collapsing on to the ground. I followed him immediately after that.
A few hours later I woke up to see I was in the bedroom. I look over to see Vayu was still out of it. I walked downstairs to see Lynette on the couch and Kaji sleeping on a wooden chair. The house was quiet. I sneaked around to not disturb anyone. I went outside to see the beautiful scenery of the setting sun surrounded by beautiful purple clouds in the bright twilight sky.
I slowly walk forward when someone said, “Are you going now?”
I turned to see Charlie on the balcony.
“Sort of. I’ll be back later. I promise.” She smiled.
I slowly walked away and then stop and turned around. “By the way, you are definitely the most girly tomboy I have ever met.” I started running and soon random things were being thrown at me. I turned to see an angry Charlie and what I suspect to be blacksmith material hitting me.

I walked to the edge of the cloud and looked to see where I was, spread my wings, and flew down back to the Gray Dove. I landed beside the pond to find a young man with gray hair.
“Welcome, I suppose you finish your quest?”
“Yes, but I wish to somehow keep the wings.”
“I am sorry, but we have a contract. You can renew it.”
“No I prefer to get my own.” I pulled out the NMCM. “Here I want you to break this when I return your wings and sprinkle the dust on my back.”
He looked at me like I said the most stupid thing ever.
“You don’t think this will actually work? No magic can break a contract.”
“I am not going to break it. Just watch.” I gave him the marble and place my hand on his head. A bright light began to shine.
Slowly I felt the wings shrink away into my back. It was really painful. I then felt the marble’s powder hit my back then I felt the wings slowly grew back. Soon the light vanished and the Grey Dove was in my hands and a pair of gray wings sprung from my back.
The Gray Dove flew out of my hands and floated in front of me.
“That’s some strong magic to replicate my wings. You are a strange individual.”
“Nah, just a Nobody.”
“Well, Nobody, be careful, those wings are now yours which mean they are not under my protection.”
“I will. Thank you, Gray Dove.”
“No problem. Well time to find a new spot.” He went and picked up his now blank tablet.
“See ya around.” He said and then flew off into the horizon.
I spread my wings too and headed back to where my friends were expecting me.

A few days later once everything was straightened out and order was restore to the kingdom fixing the harpy as well as the human world in Australia.
A celebration was to be held in the castle and everyone was invited. I at first wasn’t going to go, but Charlie tricked me into it.
I wore one of Kaji’s old suits, as did Vayu. Charlie wore a beautiful dress that really showed her girly side.
When Charlie met Kaji, Kaji broke down in tears and apologized for all the years of not being with her or her mother. She slapped him and told him to act like a man. She then hugged him and cried happily to meet her father.
After that, he became a very doting father and got her many gifts. She took them even ones that didn’t suit her.
Vayu decided to live with Charlie and Kaji for a while before he could finds his own place. Kaji was fine with it at first, but he found out that they kiss and admitted their love for each other. He tried to keep them apart to avoid his daughter, but it actually brought them closer. He really was furious with himself in private, but gave in.
Lynette stayed around and helped with the housework to recover her strength before she returned to the Nest to clear everything up. She also offered Vayu to be a Royal Guard of the Kingdom, but he turned it down for as he put it, “I prefer to do things my way.”
The ball was wonderful. Vayu and Charlie danced together, as did Kaji and Lynette. I stood toward the side for I wasn’t good at dancing and I felt they should enjoy themselves. I needed to prepare.
But to my best attempt to avoiding being spotted Charlie and Lynette had me dance with them and I had a wonderful time as well.
Soon the part began to die down as the sun began to set. I went outside towards the edge of the cloud and stared at the beautiful dusk before me.
Soon a hand appeared on my shoulder.
“You’re going aren’t you?” Vayu asked.
“Yes,” I replied. “My journey isn’t over yet.”
“Please be sure to come back.” Said Charlie who jumped on my back to give me a hug.
“Heh, don’t worry. We’ll meet again.” I took off my mask to show my smile.
They laughed a bit. I hugged Charlie and gave Vayu a high-five then jump off the cloud, made a twirl and flew off in-between the setting sun and the rising moon to reach the last man before I take out Navimle.
