Bugfix: Summary of recent and future bugfixes
Currently investigating:
  • PMs lost some CSS... I'm gonna go find it.
  • Standardizing password checking throughout the entire site (to make the site more compatible with very complex passwords).
  • Fixing birthdate drift (where user's birthdays are off by one day)
  • Some BBCode fixes (I hate the way BBCode works now)
  • Any other issues I find that haunt a lot of users

Newer bugfixes (recently fixed):
  • Recreate avatar password check is more accurate. Some users who used to fail password check on the recreate page no longer fail.
    I also fixed some of the delete/recreate avatar pages and flow.
  • Marketplace wishlist links work again (yay!).
    One link on the wishlist item detail still fails to load correctly.
  • The marketplace watchlist now caches multiple pages correctly.
    I also added a hidden toggle to "purge" all expired items your watchlist at once. PM me for details -- but only if your watchlist is huge.
  • Links from the marketplace to Prize and Joy now allow you to purchase an item from the store with tickets
  • PMs no longer show signatures which were banned/disabled
  • Links on forum pages that point directly to posts no longer break when the Thread title has special HTML characters in them

Hey Carbon, hate to be a bother, but can we get quotes to filter correctly again?
For instance:
[quote="this username filters wrong[]"]lol fail quoting[/quote]lol second quote

Which, when parsed, ends up showing (in a post, not the post box):
[quote="this username filters wrong[]"]lolfailquotinglol second quote

leaving the hanging brackets from the username in the quote will not show the end /quote, yet still mess up quotes terribly.

I know the forum rewrite broke this, but some people are too attached/too lazy to change their username to remove their precious squarebrackets (though, personally, curly brackets would be aesthetically pleasing for some usernames).
This is okay to ask, right?

It still doesn't work on my mule ;_;
Also, on the explorer (the newest version, I'm using vista) the page is rather... screwed up. There's text all over the avatar and the box to enter your password is completely gone XD;;

Notes about BBCode:
Our current BBCode parser is not as good as I would like.

It should be a little faster (almost every page on the site runs it!) and it should be a little more flexible (including the ability to allow usernames with brackets in it to be in the "quoted user" quotes). Plus there are some bugs that I don't like about the current BBCode system.

oh hey, while you're taking a look at/fixing BBCode errors, this is probably the best time to ask if this was on your to-fix list or if i could expect it to ever be done... so... is it? if not, can it be, or is it one of those cases where it would require too much time over something so trivial?
pretty please with whipped cream, sprinkles and a three cherries up on the very tippity top top?

Not sure, but I think this ties into password issues. Sometimes the correct password is refused for homepage/retry login and won't work for that account and sometimes multiples. This used to happen, I never found the reason, then it stopped. I think it might be back because it happened the other day.

I would LOVE if BBCode list could do dashes, alphabet, and more optional bullets.
Such as...
[list=-]

Would make all the bullets a cute and simple dash, but adding a 'a' would do lowercase letters. 'A', uppercase letters, and keep the '1' being counting. Instead of the dash could be the heart symbol, --> or > and a few others. This would be awesome!

I'm glad the watchlist has been improved, or fixed... I think it worked in the old MP. The post links is cool too, because lots of times it is just too much to expect someone to scroll, or the thread page is just too long to easily point in a close direction without linking directly to the post.

Yay for moar bug fixes, thank you! heart
I also have to say that I love your siggy - it's like that where I am too, only over here it's "If I'm not right there that second to wait on you, it just means I'm off doing something to make this place prettier and more hospitable for you. ^^". xD

Also, totally unrelated, but I found a fix for my zOMG issue, where it wasn't letting me load zOMG normally from the microsite or games tab, and I and a few others had to use a different url configuration (which is currently this: http://s2.cdn.gaiaonline.com/images/Gaia_Flash/zomg/S31307/battle.swf?g=zomg&enableGIM=true&gver=S31307&gsiUrl=www&websrv=www.gaiaonline.com&grsrv=s2.cdn.gaiaonline.com ). For me, it happened to be that in FireFox, Flash wasn't displaying the proper screen to configure the more advanced options, but when I happened to be tooling around in IE much later on the advice of someone else (from here, as a matter of fact: http://getsatisfaction.com/gaiaonline/topics/aquarium_and_zomg_wont_work ), I tweaked what they suggested, and it worked, yay. I figured I'd share, in case you were still pondering the issue. xD

Is one of those BBCode fixes going to be repairing left/right align in guilds? They've not been broken very long... it seems that only the first line of text aligns correctly next to the image. (This is a very nice feature for those of us who like to post a character image and then a big RP post, because it makes the post much shorter!) So uh... fix, pretty please?

Also, my imgmap signature doesn't work properly in guilds. (I haven't seen any other imgmap signatures to test.) I think it's a problem on Gaia's end, because it works fine in forum signatures, but I'm not sure.

Good thing the password check on the avatar recreation page has been fixed. About a year ago I had a pretty complex password that kept failing there. Good job, phyber biggrin

Oh yeah, I don't know if you already know but whenever I delete a PM from the Outbox, I get the following error message: Unable to retrieve box information about the specified message. This happens when I open the PM first and click the delete button. However, the message is deleted when I return to the Outbox so I have no idea why it's giving me that error.
