Lavi watched her walk along the dirt path out of the forest. Her light brown hair almost blonde, flew behind her. Her green eyes sparkled in the dark almost. She picked her way along the path. The Innocence fragment still in her hand. Lavi watched her with some interest.
Lavi was on a mission with Bookman for the fragment she was holding. Bookman grunted like always at his side. Lavi not really "In character" as he called it walked up to the girl. "That thing you have in your hand." He said coldly as always. The girl looked at him. She cocked an eyebrow and put a glare as cold as Kanda's on her face. "What about it?" She demanded.
Lavi not really in the mood for this was irritated by the girl. He was used to girls blushing at him and crap. But she seemed different. Unimpressed. "I need that. I am an Exorcist." He said coldly again. The same un caring attitude he always had when he was with Bookman. "Oh? Well some guy with dark curly hair said the same thing. Why should I give this to you?" She asked.
Lavi closed his one eye in frustration. "That was Noah from the sound of it. That Innocence is important." He explained coldy.
"Go on." She said crossing her arms across her chest.
"I can't explain the full thing. Not here." He said.
"I have all the time in the world." She said coldly.
Lavi grunted. "I don't...but...." He went off to summarize the explanation of why he needed the Innocence. The girl nodded with the explination. She was about to hand it over when the Innonce burst and a bright green light filled the forest. She was a little frightened. "What the hell?!" She demanded dropping the Innocence as if it would hurt her.
"You must be the host for it." He said.
"HOST?!" She demanded.
"Yes. The Order will make you an Exorcist." He said flatly and coldly. As if he didn't care that a person was about to be forced into being an Exorcist.
"And if I refuse?" She asked. She pierced him with the coldest glare he had ever known. "You can't. They will drag you there by your hair if they have to." He said.
"Damnit. Like I don't have a life here. They wouldn't consider that form the way your talking about them." She said. Her angry and hard glare had melted into sadness. Lavi actually felt pity for the girl. "No they wouldn't." He said coldly. "You'll have to come back with me. Unless you want them to find you here." He said walking away with arms behind his head as always.
"What makes you think I'd go somewhere with you? Especially someone who just told me what you did. How can I trust you?" She said walking fast up to him.
Lavi was a little surprised by this girl. No one had ever asked anything before from him. "I won't hurt you that's how you can trust me." He said. Lavi with no patience grabbed the girls arm and dragged her along and up to bookman. She struggled to get free but he was a lot stronger than she was.
The girl had a low growl in her chest. "Calm down. What is your name?" Asked bookman.
"I am not calming down. My name? It's Novella." She said coldy. "Now let me go." She said to Lavi. "You'll run away." He said gripping her arm tighter. She wanted to say she wouldn't but she had every intention of doing so.
"I said to let me go." She got her face very close to Lavis. She had the coldest glare. Her green eyes had sparks of determination in them. Lavi stared back. He was a little surprised at this but appeared to be unfazed. She saw he was faking but said nothing. Lavi put a bit of distance between them. "I can't. Even if I could I won't." He said slyly. The girl arched an eyebrow. "Oh? And why's that?" She demanded. Lavi might not be in character but this didn't change what he thought of her. "Because...heh...never mind." He said.
"Why do I have to go with you?" She asked. Lavi hated explaining this. It was such a damn stupid reason really. "If you don't they will drag you there. And force you." He said bitterly. Bookman saw that Lavi was getting nowhere with the girl so he talked to her himself.
"I'll go. But know this. I am not happy about this at all. Leaving this place is not what I had in mind when I picked that Innocence I think you called it, up." She said coldly.
"Why did you pick it up?" Asked Lavi a little curious.
"It said my name. It said I had to protect it. So I did." She said.
All Lavi did was just nod. "Let's go old man. You to...woman." He said dragging her along. The girl gave a low growl and kicked him in the stomach. "Do not ever call me that again." She spat.
Lavi grunted. Girl kicked hard. "Fine." But he dragged her along and followed bookman.
