Lol, I was experimenting with the Inspiron 1100 notebook PC and its CPU with a Dimension 8200 desktop a few days ago, and apparently forgot to plug in the CPU fan while reassembling the case. DDx
I was wondering why the computer kept cutting off at some random point of time, one time being 15 minutes; another being two minutes; another being 30 seconds; and the last time being two seconds.
I reopened the case to notice that the fan was unattached to the motherboard and undid the oversight. Almost killed that CPU by overheating it. gonk And that was Dad's laptop. eek

In other news, I am planning to install two Windows 98 systems, one being First Edition and one being Second Edition, along with Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10. Pretty interesting to see First Edition again after five years on a real system and six months on a virtual machine. I'm expecting Ubuntu would be slow as heck on this old Dell Optiplex GX1 tower PC I'm installing on. Anyway, the reason I'm installing both versions of Windows 98 on this particular computer is because I'm making this one a classic video gaming and DOS gaming PC. I recently upgraded the memory to 256MB of RAM from 128MB, and the installations didn't freak out this time. eek Now I have to back up the 4GB Win98 SE install some point later.
Let's see what would happen... next time!
