Merry Christmas GAIA! Tis the day that the small wake early (in most cases;, the older wake even earlier and the rest of us stumble out to the wakeup call of ‘come on you lazy sods! Time to rise and shine sleepy heads!’. Much like last year in many ways, except location, this year at Meg’s place instead of her Mum’s, 10 mins difference in travel, which isn’t much since it still took 5 hours to get to our God Mothers place.
I should explain my family is made up of mum my little brother and sister and I we do have blood relatives, but its best if our relationship stays phone based, tis the only time we don’t fight. Our God Mother invited us, as she did last year, to spend Christmas with her family, a loud, friendly, wonderful group active, funny and talented people. We aren’t used to the large number of people, but we are enjoying it. So I suppose the best place to start this is at the beginning, with mum gently refusing the offer of hospitality on the grounds of intruding and infringing of family time and Meg telling us we are family and we had better get our butts up here. You know who won that battle. Mum and Meg have been best friends since kinder. They know each other really well, and since we are originally from Swan Hill. Meg had a good argument. Pity our pets couldn’t come. Last year we could keep them at gramps placed, but tis been sold now, and Meg and family are allergic to pet fur.
So we came up yesterday got here about 7pm, stayed up till 1 am with various activities. The little kids rocked up with Judy and parents around 11:30 and a lovely Christmas dinner ensued, with great sweets after. Presents were given after the washing up was done. (Smart parents).
An hour later with a room full of pressies given out, I had received a decent pile of my own. Now the following is more for my recollection in later days.
From my brother and sister – A bar mix and 3 cookie cutters and a message telling me they expect biscuits some time soon.
From Mum – season 3 of Doctor Who, some silver and pink ear rings and chocolate coins
From Dad and Leslie – A book (The Islands, by Di Morrissey), a jade horse statue, a $50 book voucher and some blue slippers I’d never wear, but I won’t be telling them this, and a t-shirt from Hong Kong
From Meg and family – Some Pj’s that strangely match the slippers, but are nice, and a stocking of lollies
From Norma (Meg’s Mum) – some fancy paper
From the relatives up further north – A calendar (I get one form them every year, have for as long as I can remember and a digital photo frame with built in clock
And from Judy a toothbrush head cover (actually really wanted) and acute note book.
It was also later released that mum got me a Wii Fit, which is great, but we don’t have a Wii. Mum then told us that as a family gift we now have a plasma tv with dvd player with built in video player! TALK about lucky!
We have had dinner with more people, Meg’s cousins; coming over for dinner.
Now we are in groups entertaining ourselves with various activities, from sing star, to wii sports, to talking around a few cuppas Its a few hours later and we are mostly all in the living room talking, playing, joking and laughing. Overall am excellent ending to a wonderful day! Robert says he has a lot of episodes of the old doctor who stuff, I have to remember to get copies form him!
For those in the Northern Hemisphere, who have Christmas in winter, its a bit different here in Australia; we have the holiday season in the middle of summer. It is hot, dry and dusty. The sky is blue and we are, quite literally, in singlets shorts and thongs. Well, okay, Stacey is in a dress and some of the others are in skirts, but it’s all summer wear! Same difference!
My sonic screwdriver, along with Kerry’s have been used quite a bit, an endless amount of joy is being obtained!
Anyway, since I cannot actually post this on gaia till I have access to online facilities in a few days, this has been typed in Word, as will be the next few entries, all to be posted in separate posts on the same day, when I have a computer to use that has net access. I may try see if Michael has net access. He’s awesome; you should see his films on YouTube! You can look him up under MichealLizter films or something like that. He’s a drama student and everyone says he’s the next David Tennent or Rowen Akenson.
Good Night All and to All a Good Night!
