I think the saddest part about reading this is realizing that the gap between the "old" and the "young" aren't so far apart as they used to be. As of today, many "young" people put themselves in such horrible situations that before they become "old" and lose their dreams and hopes, they are already susceptible to being closed off. Because the "young" are experiencing more drama and pain than they should be (or at least than is expected of them), they are in a sense, growing up too fast, thus, losing their innocence and their naivety.

To learn is to experience, love doesn't come without its pains. Therefore, love is not completely pure. It is the epitome of happiness and good, but anyone who has ever felt love towards someone else would agree that the entire ride, however long or short, was not always a happy one. Therefore, for society to turn love into a symbol of perfection and the ultimate achievement in life is a false advertisement, a manipulative propaganda.

I think that you are kind of like me in the sense where we "live for others". We smile not because we're happy but because it makes other people happy. We do certain things not because we want to but because it makes others content. Likewise, had we not want to do something, we surely would not do it. I don't view that as a sacrificial life, more like a selfless person who actually considers other people. And because we live for others, we allow ourselves to be the one in pain, we take up the burdens for them, we care for them, we make sure that they're happy, regardless if it's at our expense. And I think that's the scary part. Because with that in mind, to what extent are we willing to go in order to put a smile on someone else's face?

I've thought about this sort of thing once or twice myself; the definition of life, pain, and love. Too deep for me, alas...I've realized over the years thinking too hard just isn't for me...too busy trying to enjoy life and being content as possible while alone, I guess...
