1) You have to get up early. Why can't we have it in the afternoon when everyone's awake and not yawning through the sermon? If it catches me in a bad morning, as it has very often, I'll go to church looking gross and grumpy.
2) I don't know anybody who goes to my church. And I've been going there for like ever and I still don't have any friends there. It's very uncomfortable and boring.
3) I don't like sharing personal things, as we are often invited to do. I hate it. One of my biggest fears is showing something personal. I just don't like it.
4) First is class with the high schoolers. We go over a short little passage and pick it apart. We're constantly asked stupid questions that are totally obvious like "What does it mean?" or something, and I leave having learned absolutely nothing. So I sit there, whether I'm really tired or not, fidgeting like crazy because I hate sitting still, even when I'm listening to something really interesting.
5) Then we go to the auditorium and have worship time. I think I would probably like Christian music in general if the lyrics weren't so stale. It seems like every song is the same, using the same phrases over and over again. It has to be a REALLY boring song for me to be bored singing it, because I love singing just about everything whether I like the song or not. But yeah, during worship time I just stand there and look around aimlessly and sing, feeling absolutely nothing, even though usually when I sing I feel really emotional, usually happy. xD
6) Our church is sexist. The lead singers in our worship band are always male, and the females are backup singers. The girls always have to sing the echos if there are any in the song. And they don't let girls be pastors or any other position.
7) After every song is over our worship leader guy repeats certain lines of the song in this really annoying pious voice, and it's like, Okay dude, we got it the first time. Especially since most of the lines are overused in Christian music anyway.
8 ) After worship is sermon time. Recently we've been looking for a new pastor, so we don't have one right now, and this visitor guy preaches instead. I think he's adorable and I love his voice, so I can usually pay attention. And sometimes he says some interesting stuff, even though I don't feel like I actually LEARN anything for the most part. But he's definitely a big improvement. Usually it's just a repeat of class, going over a short section of the Bible that's very simple but we have to pick it apart until a two-year-old could understand it. And the kids are all gone to their separate class by then, so there's no point to that.
The thing I do like about church:
I get to wear my Asian shoes. xD
