“I mean, I just don’t get it. Why go to all that trouble just for some fruit?” Tifa sighed, massaging her forehead lightly. “Reno…”
“You have to peel the damn thing, which takes forever since it never comes off in one piece, and then you’re left with juice all over your hands and the orange still had those stringy little white things attached. I hate those things.” As he talked, he worked steadily at the orange he held in his hands, the peel already littering the bar around him. “So you have to get those off, and by the time you do, you’re not hungry anymore! Or even if you are, a single orange isn’t enough to fill you up, and you end up doing twice as much work as opposed to eating an apple!”
Thoroughly annoyed, Tifa straightened, slamming both hands down on the bar top and earning a surprised look from Reno. “Then don’t get the orange to start with,” she said through gritted teeth. He had been on this orange rant for a full ten minutes, and she was sick and tired of it.
Reno stared blankly at her for a minute, blinking slowly. Then, in a mutter that she barely caught, he said, “…but I like oranges.”
She couldn’t help but wonder if anyone had ever died of asphyxiation due to orange peels.
