Do you want a technical answer? I can give you the real meaning of the word "love". No, I'm not going to look it up in a dictionary.

um.... what it means to you... there.

What it means to me? Um... Well love is caring for a person. Everybody loves almost everybody else to some degree. You also love yourself, because if you didn't, you would take care of yourself. Loving is caring, like I said. You love you fellow, humans, your friends, etc. Obviously you care about your friends more than some random stranger. (Well, I hope.) So, you love your friends more. But love, as in the girlfriend/boyfriend kind of love, is when you care about that person a LOT. Like you would do anything for them. The funny thing is, not everybody realizes that "love" is just an extremity of care. You could tell that person that you really care about them, but they won't get it unless you come right out and say "I love you". The difference between friendship and love I guess, is that you care about that person a lot more. Well, I guess so. Boyfriend/Girlfriend love is different. If you're going out with eachother, you still have to go through the process of building a friendship and stuff. The difference is that you go further than friendship. Otherwise, you could still care about eachother and stuff, but I dunno... I may not be the best person to talk about this... Um, well... If two people of the opposite gender aren't "dating" exactly, then they can still be friends. Certain people though have a sort of connection I guess. Like they get along really well and stuff. Better than they would normally any other person, and the friendship builds quickly. If they don't have that connection, then the furthest they can go is friends. I mean, they can hold hands and hug all they want, if they don't care about eachother it means nothing. (IE: All those prep couples at our school. They don't know what love is. They just think the other is hot. That's why they get together and break up and stuff so often. Dating is nothing but a pretense to them.) But friendship doesn't lead to dating. If the people have the connection, then yes it can. All REAL couples are really good friends AND hug and kiss and stuff. But they don't just hug and kiss for the sake of it, so you won't see them doing it all the time. It MEANS something to them. Let's put it this way: All real couples are good friends, but not all good friends become couples. You can usually tell if two would be compatible as a couple. I won't go into detail there. Even if they would be compatible though, that doesn't mean that they want to. They'd have to consider the consequences too. Dating and all that stuff doesn't always work if they just love eachother. It doesn't work without love though. I guess to tell if you love that person... I don't know how you'd be able to tell without meeting in person...
