“Aren’t you supposed to be dead?” “Am I not?” asked Kit and she looked down at herself, “Hm.”
“Interesting.”
“I am alive.”
“You tried to run me over with a car.”
“I’m used to bad neighborhoods.”
“Had we meant under different circumstances do you think that we could have been friends?” asked Tyler. “Probably not.” “Why?” “I don’t have friends.”
“What are we going to do now?” “Save the world.” “Again?” “It’s what we do.”
“I made a promise and I intend to keep it, no matter what.”
“Oh, yeah, you’re stable,” ~ Jake Sullivan
“It’s not like I caused global warming on purpose.”
“What do you have to say for yourself?” “Next time I won’t get caught.”
“Go to hell.” “You first.”
“She laughs in the face of demons. Seriously I’ve seen her do it.” ~ Sam Williams
“Aren’t you supposed to be dead?” “I get that a lot.”
“I have issues with my guardian angel - I want to kill him.”
“She creeps me out.” ~ Mark Star
“Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m evil but I’m always crazy.”
“You’re what happens when cousins marry.”
“Whatever happens don’t stop dreaming, Sarah, never stop dreaming.”
“If you could not egg on people trying to kill me, that would be nice.”
“Where have you been and why aren’t you still there?”
“It’s all very weird.”
“Hey, Kit,” said Kent. “You’re talking to me,” said Kit. “Um, yeah.” “What’d you do, loose a bet?”
“Don’t just watch, live.”
“You know what they say: ‘Hell hath no furry like a magical chick scorned’. Because nothing’s scarier than a pissed off girl with super powers,” said Kent.
“What happened to you?” “Hell happened to me.”
“I’m one of those heroes who couldn’t care less about being a hero.”
“This isn’t hell, this is Lakeview.”
“Can you repeat that Kit?” “Which part?” “Everything after ‘pay attention, I’m only going to say this once’.”
“I am nothing more than an almost innocent witness.”
“There isn’t a light at the end of this tunnel. And if there was it would be an oncoming train.”
“You can’t blame me for this.” “Yes, I can.”
“I just do what I do.”
“The war will begin tomorrow at sundown. Be prepared so sleep as well as you can tonight. And I suppose you want me to say something inspirational don’t you? Sorry but the only thing coming to mind is ‘hi hoe, hi hoe it’s off to work we go’.”
“Quit acting like a robot you freak!” ~ Jimmy Davis
“She’s so chipper and upbeat.” “She really brightens up a room.” “I don’t like that.”
“Every last one of you is absolutely insane and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Rachel rushed into their room. “Marian, Kit, wake up!” yelled Rachel, “We’re under attack!” Marian sat up. “Wah?” asked Marian groggily. “Kit, wake up!” screamed Rachel but she didn’t move. She shook her harshly until she shot up. “What?” asked Kit dully as she reached inside her ears and pulled something out. “WE’RE UNDER ATTACK!” “Not so loud.” She showed her two earplugs in her hands. “Kit do you always sleep with those things in your ears?” asked Marian. “Yes, always and one day, Marian, I’ll tell you why.” “Huh?”
Kit walked into his library. It was huge and she looked at all of the books. “Wait a minute-?” said Kit, “These books, they’re all about-.” “You.” “How is this possible?” “It’s everything you have ever said, done, felt and thought as well as everything that has been said, done, felt and thought about or to you.” “There are so many books. I’m only twelve.” “Kit, you’ve been around for far more than twelve years.”
“Relax.” “Relax, don’t tell me to relax. You threw me twenty feet.” “You’re overreacting.” “No, I’m not; this is exactly the perfect level of reacting.” “Calm down.”
“What am I missing here?” “Your brain.”
“I’m not a philosopher; all I know is that sometimes when people die they just don’t stay dead.”
“Have you been drinking?” “Maybe.” “Drinking is bad for you health.” “But good for yours.”
Kit smiled. “Your smile is creeping me out.” “I have an idea.” “I’m going to go hide in bomb shelter.”
“I’m not crazy, everyone else is.”
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” “Only a little bit more than a lot.”
“You are the luckiest idiot on Earth.”
“Itogela seyulage.” “Why is it that I’m surrounded by freaks?”
“She’s not that stupid - but I have been wrong before.”
“They’re here.” “I’m not going to ask how you know that.”
“The transporter?” asked Kit. “There’s been a small set back.” “What kind of set back?” There was a loud explosion and the building shook as the fine alarms sounded. Kit could see rubble out the window as the sprinkled turned on. “Um-.” “I don’t want to know, just fix it.”
“Hey let’s just say that had I known that I was going to die there were some people that I would’ve shot first.”
“Selutia fasu tre lan.” “I speak Kaese.” “Oh.” He took off running and she let him go for a second before she began to chase him out of pure rage.
“I live a little left of living right.”
“You want to turn my life into a movie?”
“I have anger issues; you haven’t figured that out yet?”
“If a tree falls in the forest and no one’s around to hear it does it make a sound? What is the sound of one hand clapping? What came first the chicken or the egg? If you choke a smirff what color does it turn?” “Kit, we have to go, stop trying to mess with Socrates.”
“So I’m taking this career aptitude test and I sort of get to thinking about how stupid it is. I mean I already know what I’m going to do with my life. I’ve known since I was four. I’m going to be a demon hunter. It’s not like I have any choice in the matter or anything. Some jerk who think he’s all that decided what my life was going to be like a long time ago. And if I ever meet the guy I’m going to punch him in the face. And so of course the answer’s just going to drive me nuts anyway. I mean the thought of what I could’ve been. I don’t need that. And of course there’s a fifty-fifty chance that I’ll be dead by the time the results come in. I just don’t see the point of it. I swear if it wasn’t mandatory I’d probably just burn it.”
“What was your score, Kit?” asked Bunny. “Oh, it’s nothing,” said Kit as she hid the results behind her back. “Let me see.” “No.” “It’s just the SAT, it’s no big deal.” She grabbed the test results. “Bunny!” “What the -.” She sounded faint. “Bunny?” She sat down in shock. “This score -.” “Bunny, are you okay?” “This score is -.” “Bunny, I can explain.” “It’s better than mine. You did better than me!?” “Bunny?” “But you’re an idiot!” “Bunny!” “Sorry.” “Bunny there’s something that I need to tell you.” “What?” “See there’s this small thing about myself that I never bothered to tell you.” “What a shocker.” “Well, um, you see, I’m sort of, well, a genius.” “Huh?” “You know a genius: someone who’s exceptionally smart.” “But - I - I’m the smart one.” “Sorry.” “Is this a perfect score?” “Well, ah, sort of, um, yeah.” “Uh.”
“Why are they so upset?” “I think it’s because I won’t die.” “I can understand that.” “Mark!”
“War is hell, loosing is death.”
“You’re so weird.” ~ Kiki Price
“I’m so not related to you.” “Were you born in a barn?” “I don’t know, I don’t remember where I was born.”
“We’re all going to die, aren’t we?” “Yeah.” “Well then let’s go.”
“I’m so screwed.”
“We need to talk.” “That can’t be good.”
“God, I hate you.” “Me or God?” “Both.”
“Well if it isn’t the freak,” said Kiki. “Oh, like you should talk.”
She was as weird as weird came in the form of a teenage girl.
“You’re the most amazing person I know.” ~ Kent Star
“You’re a lunatic, an absolute psycho.” “How much of your limited brain power did you use to figure that out?”
“She used to give me a look so terrifying that it should have been banned by the Geneva Convention.” ~ Tyler Mitchell
“I don’t think I can do this anymore.”
“I once threw up because my parents forced me to talk to them.”
“We were a big team, twelve people and she was close to each of us in a special way. For me it was the most important relationship I ever had. We had a connection that only we shared. We both understood what it was like to be afraid of our own power. And it was the two of us, Kit and me, who were in that chamber on our first mission. She was the only person who understood me and everyday, she told me ‘You are loved’. She always took the time to say it. I miss that. I loved her in a way that I not ever understood. It wasn’t a romantic love but it was a love none the less. But now she’s gone and I’ll never get to hear her tell me ‘you are loved’ again. And now I’ll never get the chance to her that she was loved too.” ~ Jimmy Davis
“I’ve heard the phrase ‘It’s just like magic’ so many times from mortals that it actually hurts to hear it now.”
“Kit Thompson, my office, now!” yelled Principal Hurston’s voice over the PA. “Kit, what have you done now?” asked Kent. “What have I done or what have I done that I think he knows I’ve done?”
“There are three things that are hard me for to say: ‘I trust you’, ‘I love you’ and ‘I’m scared’. There are three things that are almost impossible for me to say: ‘I’m sorry’, ‘I forgive you’ and ‘Help me’. And the one thing that you will absolutely never hear me say is: ‘I give up’.”
“I’m dead, you killed me,” said the Great Dark One. “Yes,” said Kit. “You’re dead too?” “Yes.” “At least I took you down with me.” “No, you didn’t.” “What?” “You see, I sacrificed myself to stop you, to save the world. I died of my own free will. It was my choice to die, not yours. So you see, I took you down with me.”
“You’re going to be quiet? I know the lake’s frozen but I’m not sure about hell.”
“Kit!” yelled Miss Herman. “Sarah made me do it,” said Kit. “Thanks, Kit,” said Sarah. “You’re not in trouble.” “Oh, oops, well Sarah made me do it.” “Thanks, Kit.”
“I’ll go with you,” said Cole. Translated that meant: “I have no intention whatsoever of letting go of you anytime soon so you’re going to have to drag me all around this school, whether you like it or not.”
“So I’m going to tell you about my Valentine’s Day date,” said Kiki. “Does the term ‘cruel and unusual punishment’ mean anything to you?”
“You want to know why I’m so confused? You’ve always told me to follow my heart. But sometimes being good feels bad and being bad feels good. What am I supposed to do when I can’t tell good from evil?”
“You’re the only one who has a chance of stopping him.” “But I’m not sure that I can.”
“Get right back on that white horse and ride it off a cliff.”
“You know that saying ‘love means never having to say you’re sorry,’ well that’s a load of crap. Love means having to say you’re sorry more than half of the time.”
“They say that life is like an airport; a series of arrivals and departures. Well if that’s so my plane crashed a long time ago.”
“Why is it that you’ve been smoking since you were like thirteen and as soon as you turn old enough to do it legally you quit,” said Bunny. “Is there something you’re trying to tell me?”
“Do you know how it feels to pray to a god you’re not sure is real? Or what it’s like to have your life completely fall apart?”
“You couldn’t ever hope to understand Kit. And those who’ve tried inevitably always learn they don’t want to,” said Sarah. “Why?” “Because you’ve never been a four year old girl who sits up in her bed all night crying and holding a broom a handle because you know there might actually be monster hiding under your bed waiting to kill you in your sleep.”
“I have a plan!” “And that’s good for me - how?”
“I could tell when she was pissed at me because she would yell at me. And if you’ve ever heard Kit yell then you know it’s one of the scariest things to hear. Because she does it so calmly. Her voice is perfectly level and she does not raise it. She yells with out actually yelling. It’s just so weird. People should act angry when they’re angry.” ~ Cole Thompson
“My name is Kit, learn it, love it, obey it, fear it.”
“What can I possible have that you could want so much?” “Free will.”
