Listen, listen....
Beware. Once you cross the line will you ever see the other side?
Rush, rush, rush!
Yesterday we had an INSANE rush at work. DDD: It was just pure, unadulterated madness. XDDD

Usually we have orders out by at least three and a half minutes- that's the Sonic standard. But nooo, yesterday... oh, yes-ter-day! Most of the orders were getting out fifteen minutes late. I'm really, REALLY surprised that people didn't drive off. xDD; (Although I think that it did happen to one carhop.) I mean, just ONE drink took twenty minutes to wait. You want to know WHY? All of the tickets (we keep all of our food orders in line by having them in order with tickets that have numbers) were backed-up. It wasn't that we were trying to purposely delay, it's that the order was just so far in the back that we couldn't possibly reach it fast enough!

And there were constantly at least six scans on the screen (scans are for me, the carhop. Basically there's a screen that shows when an order is ready to be taken out. When something comes up, we "scan" for it.)

I've NEVER been through a rush like that before. O.o;;; Some of the orders were twenty minutes late- most of them, really. Fifteen minutes was the lowest. Me and the other carhops were just racing around like chickens with our heads cut off. xD And even though people were angry about their order being so freakishly late, they seemed to pity me because they would see me running around, and then when I would come up with their order I would be going: "Here's -gasp- your order!" I was sooo tired. I was breathing pretty heavy and sweating (it's getting effing hot outside, and I was running to give everyone their orders) so people took pity on me. I got good tips that day. XD

And that pure chaos when on for about two, three hours strait. When there were no scans on the screen I only had enough time to dash into the back and suck the life out of my water before running back to the front and doing scans again. Ahhh, the bliss. xDD

And it was MONDAY. Monday is supposed to be the day of no action! There wasn't really many staff members there that day, so that just sucked a** really badly.

And then when the other carhops came in they started complaining about how tired they were. They came in AFTER the rush. I was thinking: "DON'T MAKE ME GO GET THOSE PAPER KNIVES AND STAB YOU, DAMN IT. O.o;;;;;" THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO COMPLAIN WHEN THEY CAME IN JUST TEN MINUTES AFTER THE RUSH HAD ENDED! Blaaaaah...! -flails-

But I feel like a vet now. XD I've been working for almost two months. Once you reach two months, you're pretty much one of the people who've been working there for a long time. People really only stay for about three months and than leave from what I can see. After all, they train for only forty-five minutes and then you're left to go solo. And everything is fine. It's just knowing how to put the tickets down and rotating the trays. And, most of all, just being able to read the receipt. Giving change is just something that should come naturally. The first day it seems kind of confusing, but the second day it goes: "Oh hey, this is easy!" You've just gotta be ready to go for when there's an order ready and take it out ASAP. :3

Pheeeewie. I went to bed pretty early last night and woke up really late. That was one hellaofarush, I can say that confidently. XD

And whooowee! I almost got hit by a car at least three times yesterday. XD It's dangerous being a carhop. crying ; You have to run around quickly and with cars driving through there (some of them going SO MUCH FASTER THAN THEY NEED TO O.O+) sometimes you just barely notice. Usually the almost-get-hit-by-a-car thing happens when you're passing by the drive-through. Ah, fun, fun. Being a carhop at Sonic is giving you exercise AND you face near death experiences! biggrin

So when you go through a Sonic, go slowly. Think of the carhops. ;o;

    Well, it sounds like your job should help you keep in shape this summer, at any rate. 3nodding I hope you don't have too many days like that, though...rushing around too much in the heat's not good for you. I mean, on weekends and around the holidays should be busy, but...as you said...on a Monday? How odd...but then again, it's the time of year when people start going on vacation, plus schools are starting to get out... sweatdrop

    Just no getting hit by a car. It sounds painful.

    Though, I totaly know how you feel about rushing about like a chicken with your head cut off. Busy days are fun, and not fun. xp
