I'm from Arizona, and I'm sure other people are too, so I thought I'd make a thread.

From Wikipedia:

Arizona /ˌæ.ɹɪˈzoʊ.nə/ is a U.S. state located in the Southwestern United States. It is best known for its desert landscape, which includes cacti. Arizona is also known for its exceptionally hot summers and mild winters. Less well known is the pine-covered high country in the north-central portion of the state, which contrasts with the lower deserts of the state.

Arizona is one of the Four Corners states. It borders New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, touches Colorado, and has a 389-mile (626 km) international border with the states of Sonora and Baja California Norte in Mexico. Aside from the Grand Canyon, many other National Forests, Parks, Monuments, and Indian reservations are located in the state. Arizona was the 48th state admitted into the U.S. (1912), and the last of the contiguous states admitted.

Spoon-feed:
Do you live in AZ?
Have you ever been there?
Do you want to sometime? (You should, it's an awesome state)
Favorite city?
Do you tend to assume that it's all desert?

The canyon actually isn't that great unless you're in it

I never have, and I was totally unimpressed when I saw it from above, but pictures from inside are nice

It's not as amazing as people like to think, though...

I would have to most heartily disagree. I cannot get enough of the Grand Canyon. It is beautiful and amazing. It takes on its own moods differnt times of the year and even times of the day. There is nothing as spectacular as seeing the Grand Canyon when an afternoon storm aproaches. The shadows play with the rock formations and the sky is an expanse of tumultuous emotion. It is something out of a fantasy. You just can't stop looking because there are new changes at each moment.

Hiking is another experience altogether. You can't go anywhere and be closer to nature at her best. You experience major changes in climate and scenery in a few hours. It is not someplace you can easily tire of.

Ok, I can go on and on about the Grand Canyon but I think you have an idea of my opinion.

Personaly I have never desired the helicopter view. I prefer up close and personal. I like to take it slow and take it all in. If I am in a hurry, I always have my personal UFO now that I can take a quick looksee in.

Come and visit. You won't regret it.

It's just so huge that your mind can't quite grasp the scope.

I have to admit I think that Bryce Canyon is a bit prettier, but again, I think it might be the scope at work.

I keep meaning to go to AZ again, but rl gets in the way. I love day hiking.

I've never been to Arizona, but Mom and a friend visited the Grand Canyon and liked it, and we have another friend who lives in Phoenix (I think he lives in Phoenix, anyway). Doesn't sound bad.

I've never been myself, but I plan to at some point in my life. My best friend lives in Tucson, and she has nothing but praise for AZ. I figure if I move anywhere other than where I am now, I'd like to live in Tucson.

I am a South African Citizen who is in a LDR with my very beautiful and lovely girlfriend who lives in Ohio. I will be visiting her again in May for three weeks and we might go to Arizon for a getaway smile . I understand the Skywalk is finished that must be <3

but I think a helicopter ride through the canyon would be way more <3! biggrin

we'll see because I have four other locations in mind as well.

Denver - Colarado Mountains
Florida - Disney World and Nasa
South Dakota - Mount Rushmore
Las Vegas - We could drive to Arizona afterwards ^.^

...Maybe even D.C. but hmm I go there when I fly to Dayton... but it would be much more fun if she was there with me

decisions decision biggrin
